Ok, we got a new computer and on our old one...well...the one that is now my dad's we had Limewire...ya kno to download crap...and it REALLY sucked, ok, so I was wondering, if kazaa is NE good? Would u recommend it? Does it cost NEthing??

I use KaZaA Lite. Its the exact same thing as KaZaA only without spyware. I LOVE KAZAA LITE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah, and its free:)

Oh, wow. LOL. I don't exactly know how to explain this...but I'll try. Spyware is software that gains information on people without them knowing about it. Like...people could be watching what you're looking at on your computer. When you download KaZaA, these spyware programs come with it.

I JUST got KaZaA Lite like a half hour ago, cause my regular KaZaA screwed up. But I don't like this one cause I can't get any skins (I dunno why) so I might go back to regular KaZaA. Poo.

I have no idea...I've never downloaded a movie from KaZaA Lite. The biggest thing I downloaded from there was an episode of Saved by the Bell and it was 221 megabytes. :eek:

And yup I'm sure its free. :)

Yeah. The more memory you use up, the slower it goes. And if you don't have broadband or something equally as fast, it'll take FOREVER to download...hours.

Adding to What Kristina said, It can watch what you do, gain information about you and report it back such as where you go in the internet and watch what you type in forms, Not to mention increase pop-ups that u recieve, Kazaa installs like 5 spyware programs besides Kazaa itself onto your computer, one of them will actully take your computer power and hard drive space and use it for their own company... Stay away from Kazaa! If you had to use it for some reason, at least use it on your old one, not your brand new one...

Those were referring to regular kazaa ;) , Kazaa lite which you said you downloaded is fine and is free of spyware, though by using it you are sorta supporting hackers, its still free of spyware :)

KaZaA is awesome. I download movies all the time. The thing to do is to delete them after you watch. You can even put them on C.D.'s, and play them on DVD players (well, i can). I have downloaded tons of movies and shows with DVD quality. I have every episode of 'Buffy' season 7 on dvd (the episodes that have aired). it's cool! I recommend. and, who cares if it has 'spyware'. like it matters who knows what ur watching, unless if you are a pervert (points to the anti-kazaa society). just joking! :D

All that has been said so far about Kazaa is true, but as usual, there is a down side.

I used Kazaa and Kazaa lite for somtime and I don't recommend it because there is a high risk that your computer will become infected with some nasty virus, even if you have anti-virus software. My computer was infected by some files that I downloaded from Kazaa. The viruses come disguised as music files and when you open them, thinking that you are opening only a music file, WHAM! your computer starts messing up.

For the spyware you can use Ad-aware. It "sniffs out" any spyware and ads hidden in your computer and safely removes them.

It's not a matter of hiding anything. What if someone was looking in at you in the kitchen? You have nothing to hide, but it's still disturbing that this person is looking through your window. You/parents/whoever bought this computer, you shouldn't have to be subjected to spyware. Some spyware on KaZaA also uses your computer power from what I've read, and you bought it for your personal use, not KaZaA's.

Also, there are other things on your computer that people want to keep private, things that aren't dirty but that they want to keep safe for security reasons.

realize its busy alot with traffic.I have tried to download certain movies and the screen seems to freeze alot and new files won't come up.is there a way to contact kazaa. I usually just go to the folder it was downloaded to and delete it to the recycle bin, then empty the recycle bin and no more file.

Ah yea Ive seen that Diet Kaza at download.com, I wonder if thats legal... hmm.. I know Kazaa Lite isnt, and I don't think Download.com will put kazaa lite on there since technically its a hacked version...

I don't know about the spyware being used to stalk people and such, although it is possible. One of the things that spyware is used for is tracking down what you download from the internet. I'm sure you have heard about the constant battle of the music industry with this. I know someone who is so deep in the knowledge and the underground of computers, that he knows what the real deal is. In fact, he told me that even some of the software that you can get off of regular commercial DVD movies (like their "PC Friendly DVD" and such contain spyware. I think that the reason that it may be possible is because of marketing, to see what kind of movies people like. If you also have a feature that says "Register your DVD", that sends information to their database from you. That makes them happy and you are happy because you got your "Warranty" or your "Unique Service that saves you tons of money".

I only used it once, and got rid of it. I was out to get the "Family Guy" unaired episode "Once Upon a Weinstein" and it gave me an episode that I already had, and that wasn't that particular episode.

I'm having trouble deleting a movie. I do the procedure of right-clicking and deleting, but it pops right back up. Any suggestions?
