This just came in to our email today. Thanks Jack.

" Just wanted to let you know I received the Time Life set and even though its better than anything thats been released so far, its very disapointing. There are no outtakes or commercials at all and the end credits on many of the shows cut off right at the end so the the dick van dyke show billboard cant be seen. Why the hell did they need to cut that out!! It just ruins the last note or two of the theme song. Very unprofessional and just plain stupid!! Im going to keep them as for viewing purposes they're ok.

How are things going with your original release? Hopefully they will transfer them from the negatives and not prints and of course leave them intact as they originally aired with all the commercials etc. which of course was your original plan. Read your latest update on the web site. Also, Brownstein plastered his distributed by logo after every episode. "

You want commercials in the DVD on DVD set? No commercials! I would like to have the uncut episode commercial free. If you want commercials, put them in as a bonus selection. Lolac

I know I've reached back a bit, but I wanted to give a quick review of the T/L release, and this seemed like an efficient and fair way to do it.
On St. Valentine's Day, my girlfriend surprised me with a gift of every available title in the Time/Life Dick Van Dyke Show series so far. Sorry I've taken so long to report this to you all, but I've been very busy. It took me 3 weeks to get around to watching all of the discs!
First noticed was the really clear picture. Better than anything I'd seen so far. It's almost like being there.
Then there's the sound. I don't think the DVDs are in stereo, but it may be a similated form (they can do that), since the sound is really good as well. I heard subtle things that I've never heard before. Sounds like footsteps or a chair being pulled out sounded so clear and real. Again, it was like being there.
The bonuses were not bad either. There are interviews about what happened behind the scenes on popular shows (current, not vintage), original Grammy Awards show footage, actual rehearsal footage, and Dick singing the lyrics to the show's theme live at the Hollywood Bowl in 2001.
All in all, I'd say it's not a bad set. If you want to wait for Dougs set (as I was doing), fine, but if you do get the T/L set, you won't be dissappointed in the short run.
I can't comment on price, since she won't tell me what she paid or where she got them. She only says they were a bargain, and that she expected to pay more. Keep in mind though, that she owns a successful business, so that statement is definitely relative.

Thanks, Steve for your review of the Time Life set! I asked for it for my birthday, and now I really hope I get it! I respect your opinion, so knowing you like it means a lot.
