View Full Version : Microsoft to develop software to combat internet music piracy Brian 01-20-2003, 06:08 PM Here's the link. http://money.cnn.com/2003/01/20/technology/microsoft_develops.dj/index.htm DarleneIllyria 01-20-2003, 10:07 PM I'm for downloading songs. This just my opinion, so take it however you want. I used to be a big cd buyer. I would buy cds from my favorite artists or buy a full cd for a few songs I liked. I assumed that since I like one or two songs from a certain artist the full cd would be good. That's not true. Downloading saves cash. I could download the songs I want instead of running out and spending money for it. I do still buy cds, but only from the singers that I really and truly like. I have the best from both worlds. I can spend money and buy a cd and I can download songs from artists that I prob. wouldn't like the full cd. I'll take Tim McGraw for instance. He used to be one of my favorite singers. I bought his 'Set this Circus Down' cd. I had this coupon so it knocked the price down to like 3 or 4 bucks. I take home the cd and play it and I find out that I only like 2 songs on the whole damn disc. The rest of it sucked, imo. Yeah, if I only I had downloaded the songs from his cd I would've used my coupon for something else. I'm just glad I didn't pay 17, 18 bucks for that cd. It just was not worth that much. Brian 01-21-2003, 09:43 PM I don't buy CDs anymore and I will tell you why. I don't want to pay 15 dollars or more for a CD that has only 2 or 3 of my favorite songs. I also don't get CDs anymore because I have an MP3 player. DarleneIllyria 01-22-2003, 02:01 AM Originally posted by BJL I don't buy CDs anymore and I will tell you why. I think Walmart kind of woke up and realized they need to lower prices on the cds in order to sell them. I got Shania Twain's "Up" cd a few weeks ago and it's a 2 cd set and I got it at Walmart for like 10 bucks. Walmart kind of sucks on some of the supplies. I wanted to get Kelly Osbourne's cd and they didn't have it. I got the cd for Christmas and my parents had to buy it through Sam Goody and it was prob. 19 bucks at SG. It's a good cd, so I'm not talking about this cd below. It's just insane to pay that much for a cd that only has a few good songs. I do realize that they make singles, but I hate buying single cds. Out of all the cds I have, only 3 or 4 of them are singles. I hate buying singles. I'd rather just buy the full cd. With downloading so close to me, I can just save time and money and just go and download. That has cut down on the number of cds I've bought this year. |
