Show to Examine Michael Jackson's Face

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The face of pop singer Michael Jackson (news) will be the subject of a special edition of NBC's news magazine "Dateline" next month.

"Michael Jackson Unmasked," set to air at 10 p.m. EST Feb. 17, will be "the inside story as told by some of the people who knew him best," according to a network statement. Further details about the program weren't given.

For years, Jackson's appearance — particularly his increasingly smaller nose and lighter skin tone — has been the subject of intense scrutiny and speculation.

In announcing the program to television critics last week, NBC Entertainment President Jeff Zucker said "Dateline" can encompass a variety of stories in its three hours each week.

The series can "run the gamut from important, serious shows like Tom Brokaw's fantastic hour on Iraq to ridiculous but fascinating hours on Michael Jackson's face," Zucker told the Television Critics Association.

Jackson, 44, last made headlines in November when he dangled his son, Prince Michael II, from a fourth-floor balcony in Germany. The baby wasn't hurt and Jackson quickly apologized, calling it "a terrible mistake."

That should be interesting:lol:

Man, I can't believe they would even have a show telling about his face. He's obsessed with plastic surgery. He went from looking good to looking like an alien. That's just about all a person could say about his face.

Yeah, if any show talks about his face, it should be on an episode of the X-Files. :D

Interesting. I think I'll watch.

This interests me. Why a person would mutilate their face the way he did is just insane to me. I'd like to know about the doctors who are responsible for the mess. He barely has a nose now.
It will be interesting to see the chronological stages that his appearance went through.
One question I'd like answered, but not sure if I'll get, is "Why?"

I'd like to know the answers to those questions as well. I'd also like to know more about whatever chemical process he used to completely bleach out his skin color - that can't possibly be good for you. What doctors (or whoever) asisted Jackson with that process? Is this something that he has to do to himself on a continuing basis? Who will be held responsible if there are some serious side effects somewhere along the line?

(When I saw the video of Jackson dangling that baby over the side of the balcony, 5 stories above the ground, it occurred to me that some of those chemicals must have seeped into his brain!)

I think I heard awhile back that his dad was pretty cruel to him. His dad gave him the nickname big nose and his dad insulted his looks and I'd say that drove him into his obsession. I'm sure no matter how many times he looks in the mirror, he still sees the same guy he used to be and he can still hear his dad insulting his looks.

I've heard similar stories Jenny. The big nose nickname is news to me though, but that could explain why he has such a complex about his nose.
I know that patients undergoing plastic surgery have to undergo counseling to determine that they're altering their looks for the right reasons.
I couldn't walk into a plastic surgeon's office and order the surgeon to keep chipping away at my nose because of an abusive father/childhood.
I guess with Michael's money, they'd remove his arm if he wanted them too.

I certainly nope they bring up a few of these points in this "investigation" of Jacko's nose. My guess is that Jackson just keeps tossing money at these guys until he finds someone who is willing to continue working on him.
One of these "doctors" has got to speak up and put a stop to this nut job- oh excuse me- pop star...

That's the problem with being a big celeb. You can intimidate people. Not all people will be intimidated, but most prob. would be. Hey, MJ is gonna give me X amount of cash to work on his nose again. Should I tell the guy to leave it alone or should I just keep my mouth shut and do the job and let him pay me? Money has the strangest power on some people.

You know all that jazz some celebs put up. "Do you know who I am?" etc.

It reminds me of how the doctors prescribed so many drugs to Elvis Presley. Money and power talk.

Why isn't this posted on the Music board? TJ posted a sticky a few days ago saying to post movie, music, and sports topics on their own boards.

Sorry, i didnt think i should since the special has nothing to do with his music.

It's a discussion about Michael Jackson's excessive facial surgery.

That is true but he is a singer. I'm pointing this out because a few days ago, Rain Man posted a thread asking everyone who hates Britney Spears. In his post to start the thread, he did not mention her music. Instead, he said negative things about her. TJ moved that thread to the music board. If that's not enough to convice you guys, I'll mention another thread. Janice posted a thread announcing that Avril Lavigne will appear on Dateline or some other show which I can't remember at this very moment. That thread was moved as well. What I'm basically saying is that even if it doesn't talk about an artist's songs, it still qualifies as a thread suited to the music board because it is about a singer, plain and simple.

One of Rain Man's reasons for hating her was beacause her music "sucks".

Janice posted a thread announcing that Avril Lavigne will appear on Dateline
But still, that special was about her music/career, right?

Whatever, if TJ has a problem with it, he'll move it.

That's exactly who I had in mind, Janice. It's a weird thing to wonder about too. If somebody had told him no, would he still be alive today? Yeah, I know E had weight trouble towards the end of his life and his weight problems had just as much to do with his death as the drug problem did.

Elvis had issues. I like the man, but the man had issues. I remember seeing on E!'s True Hollywood Story that Elvis kept around this medicine book. He could look up a certain illness and come down with the symptoms and get the pills from his Dr. Nick.

The sad thing is that I think the people involved in Elvis' life were too busy thinking about the gravy train. Elvis was a very generous man. He'd give you a car, just for the hell of it. I think they were too busy trying to get the free stuff out of his life, instead of caring for his well being.

How many people actually told Elvis he should give up the drugs? The only one that comes to my mind is Priscilla.

That seems to me that it would be kinda degrading. A special on how bad someone' face looks. Is Wacko Jacko really that desperate for publicity??

I don't know this, but perhaps Dateline is doing the segment without Michael's cooperation.
