why where the shows only 30 mins long?

They would have been longer, but unfortunately all their problems where able to be solve din only half an hour! Therefore, the second half hour would have been nothing more than the castaways standing around doing nothing, just waiting for the next hillarious antics to take place!

That is a good question, and I never really thought about it until now. Most comedies, as this show was, were only done in a half-hour. The dramas and westerns of this time were usually the hour-long shows.
