I would go crazy cramming all of that stuff into my cart!

The one thing I never understood about SS was why people went for the big items that cost a lot. You can go to the medicine aisle and stock up on the small items that costs just as much.

You oughta try out for SS. It looks like it would be a fun show to participate in.

I agree about the medicine maybe they tell them not to. Also what about magazines and books?

I always wondered what they did with all of the food that got tossed around. When they would toss the huge roasts and turkeys into the cart they would have to get damaged.

On Supermarket Sweep, I always wanted somebody to take the produce or some decorative item from the store! That would be funny!

"Oh look! Mary is tossing apples into her cart! Now she's going for the oranges! Why? I have no idea!" "Now's she's going for the Bread Center, but wait! We're not even playing that game today!"

On a more serious note. Do the contestents get to keep the food they accumulate during the sweep? Do the 2nd and 3rd place teams get the "score money" as an actual consolation prize?

Yeah, I would like to know if they actually keep the food too. I thought they'd get the total cost of the food as the prize too. Idk.

On the original "Supermarket Sweep" that ran on ABC from 1965 to 1967, the housewife-only contestants got to take home stuff like turkeys and beef. And about the cost of the food being a prize. that money is added to the total prize money at the end of the show.

I want to know why the contestants never go for the videos unless it has some kind of special. I'd extremely love to be on that show, though! I didn't really like David Ruprecht on "Three's Company" cuz he stole Janet right from under Jack's nose, but he's a great game show host.

According to Randy West, who was the show's announcer from 2000 to 2003, the dry goods were mostly past their expiration dates, and the perishables were props.
