The next two ILL dvds are being released on April 1.

#5 - Includes: "Lucy Fakes Illness", "Lucy Writes A Play", "Breaking The Lease", and "The Ballet".

#6 - Includes: "The Young Fans", "New Neighbors", "Fred And Ethel Fight", and "The Moustache".

That would make 3 more dvds remaining to finish off the first season.

It will go like this if it's 4 episodes a disc:

#7 - "The Gossip", "Pioneer Women","The Marriage License"
and "The Kleptomaniac"

#8 - "Cuban Pals", "The Freezer", "Lucy Does a TV Commercial" and "The Publicity Agent"

#9 - "Lucy Gets Ricky on the Radio", "Lucy's Schedule","Ricky Thinks He's Getting Bald" and "Ricky Asks for a Raise"

i see that these DVDs are coming out by 4 episodes per disc, at this rate it will take FOREVER to get all of the episodes on dvd. do u think its worth buying? i havent boughten any because Ive seen the episodes so many times-and they do show reruns on tv....but do u seriously think its worth buying? i mean if its 15-20 bucks per dvd.... thats alot of money spent.

From what I have read, only season one will have five or six dvds with four episodes each per DVD but it will be different with the other seasons because they will be coming in ONE DVD per season which consistes of the amount of episodes that were in the season. lol, get what I am saying?

I bought the first 2 DVD's and they were only $9.99 apiece. Sure, it will still be a lot for all of season 1 and I have them all on tape so I don't think I'm going to buy them.

It's worth it for the extras. IMHO the radio show My Favourite Wife wasn't as good as ILL, but it makes fascinating listening, hearing some of Lucy's earlier work, and where some of the ILL ideas and scripts came from. Then there's the other bits too - pointing out some of the things that went wrong, bits of interview, some bits of script... Plus of course, much better quality sound and picture, and the ability to leap to anywhere in the episode you want, straight away, including going straight to the songs, if you're of a mind to.

And basically DVD is best anyway!

Considering they will last forever, it IS worth it, you know they might not always be on TV like they are now! And i also agree about the extras, worth the price, but i'd rather they came out season by season, you don't always have to be on the lookout for them!

yea i agree, cos then u'll be lookin around for a like 5 different volumes of season 1. if it came out by season, it would be so much simpler

I don't like season by season releases so much - they cost more, so I have to pay import duty, and my local post office gets ratty about things like that! Incidentally, even including that, and transatlantic postage rates, the total is still less than it would be to buy them from British shops if the shows were released over here. The UK gets terrifically overcharged for DVDs :(

Same here in Canada, a movie is usually 24.99 to 32.99 with Wal Mart and Costco having the best prices, HMV which hails from Britain is the worst for pricing. You then might want a special limited release movie that was a success with the critics but not the public, it is so rare and there are so few copies that i've paid as much as 60.00 or more for one movie plus 15% in taxes, it's disgusting. I would think that the ILL shows 4 episodes on a disk or 32 on several discs but in the same DVD would practically have the same weight, i guess you mean they charge by the dollar value, right?

Well here's an example - the last DVD I bought was the Buffy season 3 set. In a shop in the UK it was cost £80. Buying American, plus import duty, cost me £30. Online in the UK you can get cheaper than the £80 recommended cost, and during January some places have sales on - but for the most part you won't get it much cheaper than that. Certainly not as cheap as it is to get them from America. Quite something, isn't it?!

Now you see, there's something that really riles me, Buffy, Mad about you, Oz, you name it, they are all available, but the most popular TV show of all time comes out one DVD with 4 eps at a time instead of season by season as it does for lesser shows!

Mickey

Should do it both ways, shouldn't they, so that you can buy the season set if you want, or individual volumes if you want. Some people view a set as too much to spend all in one go, others prefer to buy the box.

Actually that's not a bad idea - it's going to annoy me having my collection made up of season one separately, then the rest as boxed sets!

Exactly what i thought! Then that will give them a reason to reissue the season one in a box, then they'll find, Lucy, the forgotten bloopers, and start all over again! Money runs everything.

Makes you wish Desi was still around and running things, doesn't it! He liked to give viewers a fair deal, after all. Even shooting new material for the repeats! They need people like that nowadays.

He even had this idea to incorporate the commercials into the show, to make the action flow evenly and not jar the viewer, he wanted it all seemless, of course this was in the days of a few commercials per half hour, not like these days where there's more commercials than show. Imagine what he would think of the chopped up versions we all watch today, he'd definitely be sitting down and making the director's cut DVD's, that's for sure!

I'm glad they are doing them in order though, so we're finally seing them the way they were meant to be seen. Not like on Tv, over the years, i used to see Drafted followed by an ep in Hollywood, then one in Europe, one where she has a baby, then one when she's pregnant.

Don't take that chance, you NEVER know, they said they would, but lots of things get said and then don't ever get done, you know.

I'm thinking about asking for the ILL DVD for my birthday (April 15th). I was going to ask for "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" Season 2 DVD, but I doubt if that will be available. :(

Hmm. Just read his reply to you, and how strange! Most people don't bother viewing DVD extras? They're the first thing I watch, whatever the DVD. I love them! Red Dwarf S1&2 have some good ones. Nice interviews, great outtakes, other little extras. I especially like commentaries. Who are these strange people who never look at extras?!
