Well living Nebraska I really don't like any of our neighboring states except for Kansas because I have alot of family and friends live there or used to live there, colorado isn't to bad but not the best.

The Western Slope sucks. The Denver Metro area (Fort Collins all the way down to Colorado Springs) is the best part of Colorado, and the side I plan on living on, lol. Unless I decide to go back to Chicago.

I've never really stepped outside, just drove through or above. It's kinda hard going from Chicago to Colorado without going through it, lol.

I've been to Iowa about 4 times and every time it's been to Des Moines and I like that place that is were my favorite restaurant is the Machine Shed they have the best chicken fried stake and mashed potatoes. And one time when we went there we stayed at the Sleep Inn and that was when it was just opened and we were the only ones there and man we got the room right across from the pool oh and the rooms were huge I loved it. I have to agree with you Three'sCompany Nebraska does have some pretty nice people like my friend said when she went on her FFA trip she said the Nebraska people were the nicest ones there because they would always wave at ya, say hi and smile all the time. But I would like to move from here to a state with mountains (I love the mountains preferably to Montana because that is were my brother and sister-in-law are going to live and I just love that state) but I'm probably going to end up living here all my life and that's not a bad thing.

Three'sCompanyrules

Of all the states I have been to I think Nebraska has the nicest people IMO I have made many friends throughout the state as well as many friends in Kansas and Colorado as well as Missouri because Holdrege had to go play a football game there a few years ago and met many nice people there. A lot of those kids on your friends FFA trip may have been from Holdrege, that is a big organization at our school and I had a lot of friends who were in there. I wouldn't mind moving out of Nebraska,my brother lives in Denver and the mountains there are nice, although I wouldn't mind Moving to Pittsburgh. I agree with you JoPol_wannabe I will probably end up living in Nebraska and probably still in Holdrege, because its a nice, but often boring, but here there is not much crime and it very peaceful here and I will be closer to Husker football to and there is nothing wrong with that. I would say I'm pretty lucky to live in Nebraska!

Why are there so many negative things being implied about Iowa?

I've never been there myself. I'd probably go stir-crazy if I moved there, because the state is landlocked. I'm used to having the ocean on one side of my community. I like the "open" feeling of that. And I'm sure that it gets a heck of a lot colder in Iowa than it does here in L.A.

But surely there are good things that can be said for the state of Iowa. It must have beautiful areas and pleasant atmospheres somewhere in the state. There's gotta be more than one person who can say something positive.

Or at LEAST something that isn't the same old thing or interests me. But so far...I have no intention to go to Iowa.

It is warmer in LA. It's about 0 here right now. BRRRRRR

But, yes, Iowa does have some nice areas. If you go west toward Council Bluffs, the scenery is quite interesting. The bluffs are rather cool. And the air is clean, some of the people are nice, it's really quite pretty in the country in the winter after a snowfall, and there is space. Well, depends on where you live. Farmland is being swallowed up by a bunch of crappy houses that all look the same.

I'll say this only once- Iowa is not one gigantic farm. I myself have never lived on a farm and have no intension of ever doing so. I'm a 'burb girl. We have national chain stores, popular restaurants, nightclubs, nationally recognized colleges, more politics than I care to mention. We do not sit on our front porch swings and chew on grass.

I traveled to the "Quad Cities" area in 1989, stayed in Bettendorf, Iowa while I was there. At the time, there was a minor league (Class "A") farm club for the California Angels that played their games in Davenport. I caught a game there one evening. All in all, it seemed to be a nice area to live.

In my opinion, here are some exciting towns in Iowa (besides Des Moines)

Carroll
Atlantic
Ames
West Bend (That's where the Grotto is, that's an AWESOME place!)
any town with a Kmart j/k lol

Here are some towns that are so dumpy you don't want to set foot in:

Fort Dodge
Storm Lake
Perry
Woodward
Boone
Cherokee (cuz they have the nut house and there's a lot of winos there lol)

I was just makin sure it wasn't farm country b/c I have *counts* one...two...three...3 farms around my house...two behind me that i can see and one when I'm going outta my devolopement. That's why I hadta make sure it wouldn't be the "same old thing" AND ALLLLLLLLLLLLSO, may I point out that JUST because u live on/near a farm does not mean u sit on porch swings, chewing grass. Good towns:
DSM- of course it is! That's why it's the capital and not Iowa City.
Ames- Go CyClowns!! Way to kick ass at The Boise Bowl!! ;)

Bad towns:
Add Waterloo/Cedar Falls- They suck.

And don't forget to visit Dyersville, home of the field in Field of Dreams.
