View Full Version : Whats wrong with Nutmeg?
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 01-14-2003, 03:40 PM The past couple days, my dog Nutmeg has been throwing up like, 2-3 times a day. She just did it now. The only thing Ive given her is a Scooby snack, and that was Sunday I believe. My Dad said if she keeps doing this, we're gonna have to get the vet to come over. He thinks it might just be a cold.
Oh, she doesnt act sick either. Shes still her hyper old self playing and jumping around.
Georgia's on my Mind 01-14-2003, 04:23 PM I am so sorry Crystal, I hope Nutmeg gets well very soon

Well I'm not a vet but I am in vet school and have worked at several clinics.
It's pretty hard to make a diagnosis over the Internet though!
The cause of dog vomiting can range from the completely benign, such as a change in diet or eating grass, to very serious, such as an abdominal obstruction. I would say that you should get a vet to see her pretty soon, as it has been going on for several days, and most especially if you notice it getting worse, more frequent, or if she also has diarrhea, blood in her stool or vomit, etc. Also make sure she's getting plently of water, as she may be getting dehydrated from vomiting so much.
Janice 01-14-2003, 05:04 PM I hope Nutmeg feels better soon, the little doggygirl.
Kay Scarpetta 01-14-2003, 05:06 PM Hope she feels better :)

Ohh.. thanks!! Well, she cant eat grass.. its snow galore! LOl. Um.. its been going on since Sunday, MAYBE Saturday nite. Its not really frequent. We havent changed her diet.. still the same food, and we stopped giving her "cookies". Havent noticed any diarrhea or blood either.
Also.. me and my parents cant figure it out: Why does she eat my dog Taco's crap?!? Its distgusting. Taco goes in a litterbox, and if youre not there or dont get up quickly enough.. she eats it. We feed all our dogs, and this has just started since like.. the summer. She doesnt eat any of our other dogs nor hers. Its weird and distgusting.

I really don't know what else I can tell you concerning Nutmeg's vomiting, as I'm sure the vet will probably want to run some tests and things.
As far as her eating Taco's poop, yes that is a rather disgusting and unfortunate habit some dogs have, and no one seems to know why. When we got a cat my dog would not leave her poop alone, so my mom ended up getting one of those "self-cleaning" litter boxes, and we haven't really had a problem with it since. I do believe that some vets sell some sort of product that you can feed to Taco that somehow changes the smell or pheromones or something in Taco's poop that will hopefully make it less attractive to Nutmeg.
But don't worry, it's nothing you're doing wrong or anything, some dogs just do that. But it never hurts to mention to your vet and see what their opinion/recommendation is.
Plata 01-14-2003, 05:21 PM I hope your dog gets better soon. But, since you said she is still her hyper self and jumping around, then she can't be in really bad shape. She probably just has a cold or something.
Wishing Nutmeg well, and thankihg Bootsy for being so considerate and thoughtful, adding her learned expeirince to the thead.

Thanks!!! Yah.. our other dogs did that too. Its distgusting.. now my parents know why I hate dogs licking me. You know what else is weird? Every single dog we've had, gets seizures. Tacos on medication for it, an d Nutmeg only gets them @ the vets (we havd to get house call) and when she runs off next door by accident. Id like Nutmeg to go on medication for them, even though she doesnt get them a whole lot, because when she gets them- she gets them BAD. The only 2 dogs who DONT get seizures, are Tika and Ebony, but we never raised them. They were given to us already raised 2 years ago. Anyways.. THANK YOU for all the information!!!!!!
Thanks to everyone else too!!:D :)
DarleneIllyria 01-14-2003, 09:33 PM I hope Nutmeg feels better, Crystal.
