On Tuesday, January 14, my mother is going to have a gastric bypass operation. She is very overweight and with this surgery, she will eat less and lose the pounds. I'm really worried right now. I hope she makes it because I want her to be at my high school graduation in June. She made it to all four of my sisters HS graduations and I don't want her to miss mine. I don't know if I can sleep tonight.

I know it's very hard not to worry, but please try not to worry. She'll make it and she'll see you at your graduation. I'll be praying for you and your mother, BJL.

I wish your mother the best of luck BJL. All surgery is risky, but in the end, the weight loss is the best thing for her health. Al Roker and Carnie Wilson look and feel like new healthier people after undergoing the same surgery your mom is having.
Your mother will be there in June cheering for you at your High School graduation ceremony.
Please make sure you let us know how everything goes.
Try and get some sleep. I know you're scared, but your mother be fine.

I Hope Everything works out Ok. My Mom has Crohns disease (I Do Too but not as bad) so i know what its like to have a mother having surgery. Just try to take your mind off of it and think everythings gonna be ok. Thats what i always do and it usually makes me feel a bit better.

Your mother will be just fine, in the end this surgery is the best thing for her. She'll be much healthier. My cousin is going in for the same surgery next month...he really needs it. Anyway, good luck to your mother.

Just remember that the surgery will be giving her back her health. 2 people in my own neighborhood have had this surgery and they both look great. In the beginning she will feel uncomfortable but, then it'll be smooth sailing. She will be fine around graduation time. Good Luck to you & your Mom...........

I just heard from the hospital that she is fine. I wasn't really too worried because I was so focused on school today.

I'm glad to hear that your Mom's doing okay! I don't know a whole lot about this type of surgery, but I understand that it's a lot more common than it was a few years ago. This will be the start of a whole new life for your mother - I'm sure she will be happier and healthier than she's been in years! I will keep you and her in my prayers. God Bless.

I'm also having gastric bypass surgery. I don't have a surgery date yet though. Let us know how your mom is doing and how much weight she has lost.

One of my Grandpas had a few bypass operations over the years (and they were vitally serious) and he is alive and well. He is my last Grandparent also. My prayers will be with you and your mother. Think positive and remember that Christ's ears are always open.
