Hi everyone!

As often happens with schedules, the information that I posted earlier this week concerning a "new" weekend schedule starting October 21st and 22nd appears to have undergone a change. There is a possibility that Fandemonium Marathon weekends will continue through October before a decision is made about a new weekend schedule. I will post information as it becomes available to me.

Thank-you Cheryl for posting this. Hopefully, there is still a chance. Perhaps our e-mails and petitions will be taken under consideration for continuing to air CATM.

I e-mailed TVLand the day we heard that CATM was being pulled from the line-up and got the standard letter in response. I e-mailed them back that a lot of dedicated CATM fans were upset that the show was coming to an end and we deserved something more than just an automated e-mail...of course, I heard nothing back from them.

What does paid programming have to do with TVLand? Are they running info-mercials?

Cheryl Harrell
10-03-2001, 01:35 AM
There were rumors on the internet that TVLAND was gonna run paid programming from 2-4 am which means no tv shows during that time & that means less time to show the tv shows. I was so afraid that that might be a contributing factor to them getting rid of CATM. Fortunately I think the paid programming only lastas a coupla weeks. I hope they show the DEAN AMRTIN CELEBRITY ROASTS informercail ad with Freddie in it...

Dear CHERYLMHVA:

There has been VERY little comment concerning the departure of "Chico and the Man". I realize that this affects you very strongly, but there are FEW posts being made concerning the show. If there is a groundswell out there asking that the show not be discontinued, then I have not seen it here :-( If it exists, the people really should get here and post.

Hello CHERYLMHVA,

In reference to your comment:

è If TVLAND can show this one episode then why did
è they cancel the show citing the contract ran out? If
è they can show this one episode, then they can start
è airing the show again. We loyal viewers will not rest
è until they have put CHICO & THE MAN back on.
è Rather than give us such lame excuses, TVLAND
è should admit the truth, that they really don't want to
è show the show anymore & don't care what viewers
è want. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/frown.gif

I don't recall anyone specifically stating that the contract had expired for "Chico and the Man". The airing rights for shows are so complex (sometimes it is a number of episodes over a period of time .. sometimes it is airing over a block of time ... sometimes it is a special contract to air a particular episode for a one-time event) that it is virutally impossible to provide information as to specifics. I don't have the details for the December
schedule, but, if an episode of "Chico and the Man" is airing in a special event, then I suspect that TV Land acquires the rights specifically for that purpose only.

In the future, you will get a lot better response with a civil inquiry than accusing people who spend a lot of time trying to bring you the best television on air of not telling the truth.

I Chico is on the Dec 7 & 8th one & a Raul one is on the other weekend. I'm not sure which epsiodes toehr than the Raul one is the one that is a New Yrs one & Ed proposes to Della when he gets drunk. Someone wrote all the details on here but I forget as usual...

Dec 9 (Sunday Details (as copied from TVLANDS website):

6:30 AM Chico & The Man 024 - "Chico and the Van " Chico is forced to vacate the van and move in with Ed.

Once again our darling Freddie is on at a weird hour of the day. They give us what they want & then put it on at a bad hour of the day. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/frown.gif

I won't be able to see if cuz TVLAND scrambled their signal on the big huge satellite dishes which we have & to get it we'd have to get a descrambler for it & can't seem to find one for it. I can't go to my parents house to watch it cuz they'll be in bed at 6:30 AM LOL! I can get the scrambled signal of TVLAND on our satellite dish & If I tune it right I can get the picture from it kinda garbled looking & no sound so I guess at 6:30 AM that that day I'll have to get up to see the garbled picture of Freddie. Such devotion LOL! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

ABSOLUTELY! (In Chico's accent LOL) "Chico and the Van" is one of my favorites too! It is sooo sweet when he is sitting on the steps pouting--when Luckymama last visited me, we both said "Awww!" at the same moment to that scene! Freddie was approaching the peak of his physical beauty (if not actually hitting it) in this episode, IMHO!

tylersmistress2002
12-11-2001, 10:20 AM
Ok, I went home and watched the episode again.....lol......and you are right. He was sooo adorable sitting on those stairs. But when he is sitting on the stairs, do you remember when he sat on the stairs what he said.....I got a knot in my stomache when I watched it last nite. I dont think I ever really caught it before...
"My life is over." "Not only am I homeless, I'm bathless"
Just a line from the show I know but still, it hit me.

Cheryl Harrell
12-11-2001, 11:20 AM
It's a sad one cuz when he's sitting on the stairs he cries. When Louie come to see him to give him the sailboat for his bathtub he gets up to walk over to Louie & Chico is reaching up & wiping tears from his eyes with is hands. Poor baby. I think it made Freddie really sad knowing Chico could be homeless. He really seemed to get into the part & show Chico's emotions. That scene is a tear jerker...

I read that about the bathtub episode & it had tears coming... So sad...

MariposaLKB
12-11-2001, 01:20 PM
Oh I know! Whenever there is something about death on CATM I just about lose it--but that particular line REALLY gets me, coming right after Freddie has just been looking so beautiful and acting so funny and pouting so cute! Makes you realize all the many things the world lost when it lost him!

Cheryl Harrell
12-11-2001, 05:52 PM
It really breaks my heart to see him cry. I can't bear to see him cry. When he cries it's like a chain reaction with me. (sniff)
