Here in Orlando an 87 year old woman was arrested for shaking a five month old infant too hard. He is now 2 and a half with brain damage permanence. The judge this afternoon sentenced her to 10 years probation because he said that she is too old to go to jail. The mother is outraged at the decision. What do you guys think about the matter. I think the old woman should be jailed. The mother thinks that the judge is inderectly sending out a message that it is okay for older people to commit a crime and get off easier. This report hurt me today because that is a little life and I have such a love for kids. What are your commets?

The old woman shook the baby too much at a in home day care she was running. The daycare is now closed. I wish there was someway I could write to the judge to express my concern about is decision.

She's had a full 87 years, the kid's messed up and he ain't even 3!!! She deserves to get punished. Just like all the Nazi war criminals rotting away in their 90s in Argentina shouldn't get off either.

I think she should be punished the same as anyone regardless of her age. also i dont think i would be leaving the welfare of my child in the care of someone that is 87 yrs old

i'm not trying to say that the woman was right or anything, i feel aweful for the kid and for the mom, but what mother in her right mind would leave her 2 year old with a nearly 90 year old woman? I know 20 year olds that have troulb ekeeping up with toddlers, much less a woman that's a decade away from being a century year old.

Well too ****ing bad if she's 'too old' to go to jail. All the people in for life will eventually be 'too old' for jail, but I don't see them getting out now, do you?

Since she made the infant suffer brain damage, she should go to jail. I mean, even though she is 87 years old, it doesn't mean she's stupid. She knows she did wrong. And, too old to go to jail? Please! Jail shouldn't be for just young to middle age offenders. It's for people of all ages who have committed crimes in their lives.
