FOLN@NFan 01-14-2003, 10:08 PM on what channel? N@N and any syndication show only a short version: Sometimes you want to go Where everybody knows your name, And they're always glad you came; You want to be where you can see, Our troubles are all the same; You want to go where everybody knows your name. NBC aired the regular, 1 minute version: Making your way in the world today Takes everything you've got; Taking a break from all your worries Sure would help a lot. Wouldn't you like to get away? Sometimes you want to go Where everybody knows your name, And they're always glad you came; You want to be where you can see, Our troubles are all the same; You want to be where everybody knows your name. You want to go where people know, People are all the same; You want to go where everybody knows your name. the post-finale Jay Leno show, shot outside of the real Cheers bar in Boston (the Bull and Finch pub) had the cowriters of the song actually singing it w/ the cast from the show, and all of the Boston (and the country, thanx to TV). this is prob. what ur thinking of. ive never actually, seen or heard this personally, so i dunno what all the lyrics that were sung here. sorry. im assuming it was the same version from the 200th anniversary episode: Making your way in the world today Takes everything you've got; Taking a break from all your worries Sure would help a lot. Wouldn't you like to get away? All those night when you've got no lights, The check is in the mail; And your little angel Hung the cat up by it's tail; And your third fiance didn't show; Sometimes you want to go Where everybody knows your name, And they're always glad you came; You want to be where you can see, Our troubles are all the same; You want to be where everybody knows your name. Roll out of bed, Mr. Coffee's dead; The morning's looking bright; And your shrink ran off to Europe, And didn't even write; And your husband wants to be a girl; Be glad there's one place in the world Where everybody knows your name, And they're always glad you came; You want to go where people know, People are all the same; You want to go where everybody knows your name. they MAY of included the verse that was never really "recorded" in any version of the song: Climbing the walls when no one calls; You've lost at love again. And the more you're down and out, The more you need a friend. When you long to hear a kind hello. can anyone help tomknibb out?? Doug tomknibb 01-16-2003, 01:18 PM I was referring to the last NEW episode on NBC. My vague memo- ry is that there was at least one complete verse more than usual. It was the original. DansonQueen 01-17-2003, 04:28 PM While on the topic of theme song, the other day a girl in my Music theory class gave me a printed out copy of the lyrics to the 200th episode. Obviously I had seen them before, but I thought it was so sweet that she did that, and it shows that I can influence others' opinions on Cheers!!! So, i posted the lyrics up in my Performing Arts Department, because everybody really does know your name there. :) :music: :guitar: |
