I did some research and found they have started to release "Best Of" VHS HD releases in other countries. Before going to the pages, open this URL so you can translate them.
http://babelfish.altavista.com/

Ok first,
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/paco.oliva/video.html

I see they are available in the french Amazon. Right now I trying to determine if they are in English before pursuing this furthur. I would hope they are in English maybe with French subtitles. I can't see them dubbing over, "Le Ayyyyyy".."

Ok next...
http://www.happydaysfanclub.com/memo/vhs.htm
Actually it won't let me do the page, so here's the breakdown by paragraph, done by the translator.
"Finally they exit also in Italy, after to have been realized for before the time to the world in France, the VHS originates them of HAPPY DAYS. The Paramount Italy realizes in fact five VHS "The best of" in sale in all the storees to leave from 12 March 2002 at the price of 7,99 Euro one. The present headed ones are:"
"One against the other -- Military Visit -- Fonzie lectomia -- a dive in the Past -- the Festivity of the Thanks -- One bullet for Fonzie -- Musical comedy American -- Nussbaum Grandmother -- One evening to the circus -- the substitute -- a weekend from bachelors -- the problem -- the contract -- Fonzie to judgment"
"If these video cassettes will have happened, the Paramount will continue to realize also others vhs for being able therefore to complete all the series. WE HOPE! you are ready to run in videoteca to order them from hour already? We have already made it! heeyyy!!"
No ordering info here, but intersting nonetheless. Maybe it means HD VHS releases are on the way here in the good old U.S.!

If they are available on dvd as well as vhs, they can easily be played on a modified dvd player that can handle PAL,
although not french releases, i dont think. I think they are in secam format?
an apex dvd player is easy to modify when you want to have european releases. :)

good luck.

ARGGGGGHH, all for nothing! Here's what I have discovered. The French tape set CAN be ordered, but it's some kind of French video format not VHS  The italian ones are VHS format with 5 volumes available but no place to order them! Even if there was, they are in Italian! They are torturing us all :angryfire

You'll do well to wait. It's next to impossible to get a vcr in USA that can play PAL tapes, plus your tv has to be compatible. And seecam? Forget about it.
Plus no legitimate place will convert licensed vhs PAL tapes to NTSC, which means you have to turn to the net and get charged maybe $10 per each hour of footage, or more.
This is one of the big reasons why dvds are so right on. Maybe happy days will come soon!

Yep, the SECAM format probably. VHS is only used by the Americas, I think. PAL is used in Europe and SECAM in France. The same with DVDs, cept it's divided by regions with America & Canada being Region 1 and Europe being Region 2 and some other regions.
