I'll add Signs to the overrated list. I thought it was pretty lame.

I rented "Minority Report" a few weeks ago. The critics went nuts over it when it was released, but I thought it was horrible.

om gosh i agree with you Jimmygirl! I hated Austin Powers. I personally thought it was disgusting. Especially the teeth *shutters*.

I haven't seen any of the Austin Powers movies cuz they look stupid to me. Usually if I see a commercial for a movie and I don't have interest in it I'll never see it. I got him the 3 DVD set for Xmas and since then he's been buggin me to watch them with him and I've told him 20 times I don't want to.

I seem to remember there being alot of hype surrounding XXX. I saw it yesterday and thought it was just plain silly, though it was entertaining.

Ooh, I agree with you about Titanic. I usually like long movies, but Titanic just dragged on for too long. The only good part was the sinking of the ship and Jack dying.

I agree with you about Vanilla Sky too. Just how many commericials did they show of that movie when it was in theaters? I grew even sicker of Tom Cruise during that time.

I have heard of Vin Diesel. I couldn't avoid that guy. On one show, I think it was Extra that they did like a week long special about him and his tattoos. Come on, who cares about his tattoos. I don't see where he looks all that great. jmo

The concept must have seemed clever to makers of the film, "hey we'll incorporate old songs and pretend that they are coming out new in the mouths of our characters".

That is just lazy and unoriginal in my opinion.

That movie was so disappointing. It was cool when Mark Wahlberg's character stepped out onstage for the first time with Steel Dragon, like WOAH... :eek: That rush of excitement. And THEN it started to blow Tender Chunks when he started doing his own rap thing while recording--totally out of place for a band like that. He wanted to be Steel Dragon, and then starts incorporating all this phony crap into their music. And what happens at the end, he goes GRUNGE LITE!! :mad: Moral of the story, kiddies, when you're not happy with your metal gig, go grunge lite and Nu-metal. YEAH RIGHT. :rolleyes:

The songs that Steel Dragon played (featuring Zakk Wylde, Jeff Pilson of Dokken, and Jason Bonham) totally baked, though. :rock:

Note: Not all these films were BAD, Citizen Kane , for instance was a very good movie, but....the category is OVERATED films, and it certainly is THAT

I'm personally a fan (not a diehard), so I think they're just great.... but I can understand why people could see them as overrated. But no film changed society moreso than "Star Wars."

That could singlehandedly be the reason why he dislikes the movie.

ALI - Will Smith movie was just too long for me.

The thing is.... "Star Wars" was the turning point in American films, and the in the lives of many people as well.

I'm personally a fan (not a diehard), so I think they're just great.... but I can understand why people could see them as overrated. But no film changed society moreso than "Star Wars."
Well, youre half making my point...many people DO see SW#1 that way. but , let's face it, that movie was a semi-dull, 2 hour long, plotless feast of special effects...eye candy, with very little substance . ( The Empire Strikes back had a plot , at least, and I consider it a much better film ) The fact that SO many people see it as some kind of revelation is WHY I consider it the most overated film of all-time.....of course, we all have our own ideas on this point, since "overated" is in the eye of the beholder. ;)
