View Full Version : Overrated Movies Mr. Stefani 01-11-2003, 06:53 PM I'll add Signs to the overrated list. I thought it was pretty lame. TJL 01-11-2003, 11:19 PM I rented "Minority Report" a few weeks ago. The critics went nuts over it when it was released, but I thought it was horrible. *ShortCake* 01-11-2003, 11:20 PM om gosh i agree with you Jimmygirl! I hated Austin Powers. I personally thought it was disgusting. Especially the teeth *shutters*. MandieR1980 01-11-2003, 11:34 PM I haven't seen any of the Austin Powers movies cuz they look stupid to me. Usually if I see a commercial for a movie and I don't have interest in it I'll never see it. I got him the 3 DVD set for Xmas and since then he's been buggin me to watch them with him and I've told him 20 times I don't want to. Bootsy Whoosh 01-11-2003, 11:56 PM I seem to remember there being alot of hype surrounding XXX. I saw it yesterday and thought it was just plain silly, though it was entertaining. ~*Hannah_Lee*~ 01-12-2003, 12:26 AM Austin Powers, I dont like these movies. They are too crude for me. Not my kinda humor. Warm & Fuzzy 01-12-2003, 12:50 AM Originally posted by Bootsy Whoosh I seem to remember there being alot of hype surrounding XXX. I agree with you about Vanilla Sky too. Just how many commericials did they show of that movie when it was in theaters? I grew even sicker of Tom Cruise during that time. No way, this film resembled a film school excercise using every cliched filmmaking technique available at the time, the story was very good, but not "The best film of all time". #9 Die Hard- No-talent Bruce Willis substitutes violence for entertainment #8 Pulp Fiction- ( See above  ) #7 Ace Ventura- While never supposed to be a masterpiece, this film got good reviews and made enough $ to have a sequel, I watched about 10 mins and that was plenty! #6 Jaws- Man meets fish, fish eats man, big deal! #5 The Jerk- Crude, unfunny film starring crude unfunny comedian... if I HAVE to watch Steve Martin ( ugh ), give me " The Man with 2 brains " #4 Lion King- Disney's ultra-dull remake of Tezuka's superior Kimba the white Lion ( Sometimes known as Leo the Lion ) #3 Animal House- Crude comedy that proved J Balushi was the grossest man in showbusiness ( He WAs great in the Blue Bros movie, though ) #2 Batman ( the first Keaton one ) : Short ugly wimp Micheal Keaton was horribly miscast as Batman ( They had to turn Bruce Wayne into a clone of Clark Kent< Wimp factor< to make it work ) and the whole "Joker kills Bruces parents" thing was all wrong , not to mention Alfred giving away Batman's identity to a REPORTER...come onnnn like she wouldnt tell the world!!! The only part of the movie that was ANY good was the ending. and , the #1 most overated movie of all time ( drum roll ).........Star Wars!!! puke: MaydayMalonesGirl 07-11-2005, 01:52 PM 1. Titanic. Dean Winchester 07-15-2005, 05:13 PM ^ Lol, I remember watching some interview with Josh Hartnett and he was asked what the bigger bombing was, The Pearl Harbor incident in World War II, or the movie. He said, "I am not allowed to answer that". I'm shocked Josh would bash Pearl Harbor, considering it was singlehandedly responsible for his brief "heartthrob" stint. It'd be like Leonardo DiCaprio badmouthing Titanic even if he thought it was a bad movie. SBTB Geek 07-16-2005, 12:42 AM I'm shocked Josh would bash Pearl Harbor, considering it was singlehandedly responsible for his brief "heartthrob" stint. That could singlehandedly be the reason why he dislikes the movie. moeee 07-16-2005, 12:44 AM ALI - Will Smith movie was just too long for me. Mikado 07-16-2005, 06:50 AM The thing is.... "Star Wars" was the turning point in American films, and the in the lives of many people as well. I'm personally a fan (not a diehard), so I think they're just great.... but I can understand why people could see them as overrated. But no film changed society moreso than "Star Wars." Well, youre half making my point...many people DO see SW#1 that way. but , let's face it, that movie was a semi-dull, 2 hour long, plotless feast of special effects...eye candy, with very little substance . ( The Empire Strikes back had a plot , at least, and I consider it a much better film ) The fact that SO many people see it as some kind of revelation is WHY I consider it the most overated film of all-time.....of course, we all have our own ideas on this point, since "overated" is in the eye of the beholder. ;) |
