There was a lot of talk about the GI Musical about a year and a half ago when it was playing in California. ( http://www.gilligansislandthemusical.com ).

I'm posting this here because in the TV Guide article about Gilligan's Wake it mentioned something about Sherwood saying that there may be a Broadway musical of the show soon. I know there were trying to have it go either on tour of other major cities or to Broadway, so maybe there's been advancements on that. I haven't read about it anywhere else, and it could take years for Sherwood to get it to NYC...so don't get too excited. But there's hope.

I was just letting you all know... lol.

((I *need* to see this musical. Julie -- there's cuteness. **dies**))

hey....if it gets big enough to get to broadway.....then i'll probably eventually get to see it on pbs. lol. like cats. i watched that 3 times within 5 days. *hums the songs* ok. i'm done.

that would totally rock....and get GI some more recognition! woo hoo!

Uh huh! Eeee. I've heard conflicting reports: some say it's a duet, and some say it's MA's song. **shrug** Either way, I wanna do it for my voice recital song. LOL. I e-mailed them and they're all like "No, we only sell the entire play to professional theatres, not one song to random kids." Thanks.

If it's a duet, I'd get my voice teacher to *make* her one guy student do it with me....and we'd totally dress up...and make fools out of ourselves. WOW, it'd be fun. Hee.

awwww! a duet would be so cute! i want to see this thing!!!!

that would be so fun to sing it! lol. (my singing skills are......*cough* scary. Dawn thinks SHE can't carry a tune.) if you sing it you have to make a tape and send it to me or something. lol....make them proud. :D

LOL. I'm not gonna end up doing it. Yea, I'm gonna go to voice tomorrow and when she asks if I thought of a song, attempt to explain this to her. Right. The sheet music isn't published and I've never heard the song before. It's not gonna happen. LOL.

I'm on set construction & on running crew for the non-equity debut of the show here in Birmingham,Alabama. We opened on Oct 10th & will close on Oct 18th. Dawn Wells, Hope & Laurence Juber, & Lloyd Schwartz all came to opening night & I got to meet & hang out with them. The show is soo much fun to do! Any true Gilligan's Island fan should se the musical!!!

That's awesome - I hope the show went well! I wanna see it so bad! But I know it'll never be performed in my area. We're not lucky like that. LOL.

So, what's the show about? The plot and such? (Ya should probably Private Message me in case people don't want spoilers? Or something? Donno. LOL). I've been trying to get my hands on the sheet music for "Things I Never Said" forever. I e-mailed Mr. Juber and he said it was possible to get a copy, but I never heard anything else from him and it's been months... **shrug**

I'm so jealous you got to work on the show! Not to mention that you got to hang out with Dawn and everyone else!

I am extremely lucky to be playing Mary Ann in our local theater group production this weekend! I've been involved in community theater for many years, and this has been one of the most fun experiences I've had.

The rumors are true, Mary Ann and Gilligan do get togther, and so do Ginger and the Professor. The duet that Mary Ann & Gilligan sing, "Things I Never Said" is also a solo that Mary Ann sings earlier in the show. Through the whole show they keep trying to tell each other they like each other, but they're too shy, so the song is about the things they could have said, should have said, but never said.

I would love it if one of my local theatre groups decided to do this play!

I won't ask for specific personal information, but are you by any chance in middle Tennessee?

I knew it! I need that song. LOL. My voice teacher tried to use her connections, but it was never published so she had no luck. Seriously, how jealous am I? LOL.

Good luck and I hope the show goes well! Let us know!

No, sorry, I'm in a small town in northern Indiana. I know a group over in Ohio did the show a few months ago.

We did 3 performances this last weekend and have 2 more this weekend. Everyone loved it! With all the other shows we have done, we only did 3 or 4 performances and we started out with only 3 this time and sold out within the first week, added a 4th and sold out and now have sold out the 5th performance. Everyone loves Gilligan's Island! It really is a great show and true to the spirit of the original show. We are doing it "in the round" and actually built huts with straw roofs, a mountain with a cave and palm trees all over the room. Our set is incredible - it's easy to imagine that we really are on the island!

That sounds great, Suzie! I wish you luck in the future performances. I'm sure you're having a blast, :D .

I keep promising myself that I will audition for one of our local theater groups (I live near Nashville), but real life keeps intruding. I can't complain--it usually has something to do with my kids, and I'm just happy that they're involved in so many things.

Have fun!
