Cheryl Harrell 11-26-2001, 02:01 PM I showed the picture to Mike & he is telling me what happened in the picture. He said that came on ch 8 on Oct 24, 1974 & He watched it in the garage he used to run. He said Freddie was a co-host that week. He said Mike Douglas interviewed him. He did alot of stand up & jokes & interviewed celebrities he said. Mike however was being very silly just now & said that Freddie was picking his nose on the show. He was just joking. The way he said it was so funny I could picture Freddie laughing at it & boy did I laugh just now. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/lol.gif http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/rotflmao.gif
Cheryl Harrell 12-13-2001, 05:45 PM I can't afford this right now so I'm gonna be nice & let ya'll have it:
http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1494759320&r=0&t=0&showTutorial=0&ed=1008440961&indexURL=0&rd=1
I would like it to go to one of ya'll instead of the strangers who are bidding on it...
Cheryl Harrell 12-14-2001, 06:45 AM Boy I am I soooo upset! :( I saw on E-Bay an autographed picture of Freddie & it was only $3. :) So I bid on it yesterday. Since no one else had bid on it I put in $4 as my top bid.
I could tell by the way it looked that it was this kind of autographed pic of him:
I had read where he got so much mail after awhile he could no longer answer it all even tho he wanted to. So he signed a bunch of pictures of himself all in one sitting & when he'd get fan mail & read it, then after reading it, he'd give the read mail to his secretary & she would send the folks he wrote to whose mail he'd read, one of the autographed pics. The seller said in her ad that she got the pic from Freddie as a teen. Probably in the mail in the 70's. So we assume it was this particular autographed pic where he autographed a bunch in advance.
Well yesterday Mike & I had to go to my folks house. I think we got back home a little after the auction would've ended. Having this dumb diabetes tires me out so after I got home I did a few other things & then I went & laid down awhile. I just woke up now & went to check the auction. The E-Bay site down for regulary scheduled maintenance. YUCK! Well, I got an e-mail saying I've been outbid & person who outbid me bid $4.25. Finally the site is back up. 3 strangers who don't hang out on any CATM/Freddie sites outbid me outbidding each other until one of them won the auction at $7.50. I have lost the auction & the top bidder was one of those strangers who never hangs out on any CATM/Freddie sites. :crying: I looked to see what stuff these folks were bidding on & some of them were bidding on shotglasses, baseball caps & old board games of tv shows & the other one was bidding on autographed pictures of celebrities. Here's a tip strangers... Go bid on the stuff on the other stars... LOL!
Can't they leave this stuff for us???? Not only have I been outbid by strangers before but I've seen others from here like Luckymama being outbid by strangers. :crying: So sad... Surely the strange person would've had the common sense to know that if someone had bid on it they wanted really BAD! Sigh... I've looked up to see what other stuff some of the strangers were bidding on in past auctions & alot of it wasn't even Freddie stuff leading me to believe they want the stuff on him just cuz he's a dead celebrity. :( Strangers PLEASE let us Freddie folks have the Freddie stuff first! Don't break our hearts... :)
I saw another autograph of him up for bid (A pic of him & Ed Brown that he'd autographed) but didn't bid on that one cuz I could get this one cheaper & I knew with the other one being currently at $17.29. & With this autographed pic of him all the bidders are strangers who aren't on any CATM/Freddie sites. I'd probably have to bid way outta my range to get it. :(
Already this week someone won the bid on my Freddie doll & the problem with the Freddie pin-up pictures... Sigh....Sorry to vent to ya'll but I had to vent to someone who understood...
:) :)
tylersmistress2002 12-14-2001, 10:05 AM Sorry you got out bid. It really erks me when people just buy up this stuff to re-sell it. Some of us ACTUALLY LIKE THE STUFF WE BID ON FOR MORE THAN PROFIT!!!! GRRRRRRR
tylersmistress2002 12-14-2001, 10:08 AM o, and by the way, Cheryl, thanks for the heads up on the other photo....i saw on thats selling for $59.00.... its framed with a picture of him and a business card....if its till around after Christmas I may try to bid on that one. wish me luck
Cheryl Harrell 12-14-2001, 02:28 PM I agree with ya! Good luck on getting that pic. It's outta my price range. I think someone on here bid on it & they didn't meet ehe reserve price & it's been put back up on bid again. Sigh... She really deserved it & so do you... :)
Cheryl Harrell 12-15-2001, 03:50 PM Well the pic of Freddie & Ed Brown that he'd autographed went for $51. I looked to see what the high bidder had been buying on on E-Bay & it was Freddie stuff. So I assume it's going to a fan instead of those folks who want it just cuz it belong to a dead celebrity. I've never seen that person on here before. They ought to join us as they'd find it fun on here. :)

[This message has been edited by Luckymama58 (edited 11-16-2001).] Well speaking of Ebay finds, last year I won a magazine with an article about Freddie and Kitty Bruce in it.It talks about how he(Freddie) broke down at her wedding.I don't exactly remember why but I'm going to find the magazine because I know that it's in my house somewhere. :)
Cheryl Harrell 12-16-2001, 08:25 PM Someone here on the boards had that & scanned it & sent it to me. I plan to put it on my site. What it was was he was the best man in CATM producer Ray Andrades wedding. Freddie cried at weddings & you guessed it he cried at the Andrade wedding. What a sentimental sweetie!  He was upset at the time of the wedding over the recent breakup between him & Kitty Bruce & sad that he couldn't yet marry due to concentrating on his career. If only he had concentrated on his career instead of getting married then maybe he might still be here with us...
tylersmistress2002 12-17-2001, 04:18 PM it looks like i wont be bidding on that picture and autograph i saw...they are not on ebay anymore :( maybe if i am lucky it will show up again. I've seen that happen before. Major bummer :(
Cheryl Harrell 12-17-2001, 04:49 PM Oh wow! Sorry to hear about that. I noticed they are charging too much money for the pic. These things need to go to those who would love them & care for them. Hopefully you'll find another one soon. :)
Cheryl Harrell 12-17-2001, 11:13 PM I won the bid on the Freddie pin-ups ! Woo-Hoo! :)
Karen64 12-18-2001, 08:48 AM Way to go, Cheryl! It's nice to see something go to a true Freddie fan!
I must confess, when my sister won Freddie's mother's book on E-bay for me back in August, she told me there was some heavy bidding, but wanted to win it for my birthday because she knew how bad I had wanted it....She may have been one of those strangers you all saw!! LOL! :)
Cheryl Harrell 12-18-2001, 04:13 PM It's good to see things going to folks on here instead of strangers... :)
Cheryl Harrell 12-28-2001, 06:46 AM Some strangers are outbidding Luckymama on some stuff she really deserves like a picture of Freddie & Jack autographed by them both. It's outta my price range. She deserves it tho... She had the top bid on a magazine that had in it Freddie telling how he found his own way to God. No one will will ever know now cuz a Michael Landon fan has outbid her so far. So sad as she deserves it too... Michael Landons jealous tantrums can't be as important as Freddie telling about God. Sigh... We have 6 hours to hope Luckymama wins. Good luck! It is so sad to see strangers & fans of other stars outbidding our family here... :( Good luck! :)
Here's what the picture looks like:
Our baby looks so happy there. & Jack looks so happy too. :) It's sad cuz if he was so happy then why did he end his life. :( Awww, it's got me leaking... Bless his dear heart...
Cheryl Harrell 12-28-2001, 07:00 AM Here's the pic:
tylersmistress2002 12-28-2001, 09:48 AM WOW! that is a great picture.... I hope you get it !!!
MariposaLKB 12-28-2001, 09:49 AM Cheryl, I guess that Michael Landon fan is gonna get the magazine because Luckymama is out of town right now! I agree she deserved to get it--you know she would scan the article and post it for everyone to enjoy! I know all of us would love to hear how Freddie came to his faith in God.
As for the picture, it is soooo sweet--you're right, they look so happy that it makes you wonder why...? :(
Cheryl Harrell 12-28-2001, 06:32 PM Looks like she lost the bid. Sigh... This is sooo sad... :(
Pitooey 12-28-2001, 09:30 PM It is sad........ I stopped going to ebay because I was going crazy (literally buying). I hope everyone gets what they truly want........... :) The picture of Freddie and Jack looks awesome!
Cheryl Harrell 12-30-2001, 03:59 AM The Freddie & Jack autographed pic is going for dig this-- $162.50! & A stranger has outbid both Luckymama & Hue-Mee. Luckymama or or Hue deserves it. Oh well there's 20 hrs left to bid ladies if you have the dough. I don't. Good luck! :)
tylersmistress2002 12-31-2001, 10:04 AM OMG---- 162!!!! I couldn't afford that one.....I love Freddie but I just couldn't swing that. I had seen a framed picture of him on EBay where he is painting and beneath the picture in the frame there is a business card and his autograph. Its only something like $60.00. I might try to bid on that now that Christmas is over if I come across it again.
Cheryl Harrell 12-31-2001, 10:40 AM Good luck on getting one! It is outta my price range...
tylersmistress2002 01-02-2002, 10:27 AM Thanks, I am keeping my fingers crossed!
catcopy18 01-04-2002, 11:07 AM I noticed that since CATM is no longer on tv, the items on e-bay have dwindled down for CATM and Freddie - BUMMER. Has anyone ever searched the internet for the Million Dollar Ripoff? I have checked several old movie categories but I've still come up empty handed. Was MDR a made for tv movie or a motion picture shown in theaters? The more I can't find that movie, the harder I keep trying!!! I WILL FIND IT!!!! I WILL, I WILL, I WILL!
wheeeone 01-04-2002, 03:14 PM Cat,
It was a made-for-TV movie. The only place I have been able to find it is in a University Film Archive...they only let you view it...you can't make copies. I hope you find a copy somewhere....two hours of Freddie's gorgeous presence at that time is a gift to behold.....:happyface
Cheryl Harrell 01-04-2002, 06:54 PM The Million Dollar Rippoff was a made for tv movie I think. I think I might've heard of it when it first came out but didn't pay much attention to it cuz I wasn't into Freddie yet at the time & was more into watching CATM. Now I WANT to see it! Make that NEED to see it. :) :)
Karen64 01-05-2002, 07:35 PM I can remember when the Million Dollar Rip-Off was being aired; I clipped out the description from TV Guide and pasted it in my Steve Martin scrapbook (go figure..I was kind of a goofy kid..) Unfortunately, I didn't watch it. We had a small TV set for the whole family of 5 and I guess I got out-voted that night on choice of channels. Now I really want to have the movie!!
I got the neatest Christmas present from my sister! It's a 1975 copy of Rolling Stone magazine featuring Freddie and an interview! She won it on E-bay for me!!! I'm so happy!
It's hard collecting stuff on Freddie--there is so little on him because his life was so short... :(
The article is interesting; he didn't hold back any for this one! And the pictures are nice---there's one of him putting gas in his car at a gas station and several more candid pics.
Cheryl Harrell 01-06-2002, 08:23 AM One problem is alot of the stuff on Freddie is that prices are more than I can afford & when I try to buy something, strange people who don't hang out on any CATM/Freddie sites outbid us on stuff on him...
hue_mee 01-06-2002, 11:58 AM I noticed the picture that luckymama was bidding on and hoped she'd get. When she IM'd me she was going out of town and was hoping to get it, I of course agreed with her. While she was out I glanced at the bidding to see who was winning. After noticing the bids after Luckymamas and had a very strong feeling she was out bidded. I noticed the one who was bidding against her. Which I assumed was another dealer which in time would turn around and sell it again. I felt it should go to someone who has more appreciation to Freddie Prinze and Jack Albertson then a dealer looking to sell it later for an extra buck.
So I placed a bid on it and of course the bidding war went higher and higher. I stopped and won!
Normally I don't go that high on a bid for pictures. Seeing it was autographed by both of them I just had to give it a try .
Pitooey 01-06-2002, 07:21 PM Hue-mee Are you telling us that YOU WON THE PICTURE? If so........................... CONGRATULATIONS YOU LUCKY STIFF!!!  :eyes2: :happyface :happyface :typing:
Cheryl Harrell 01-07-2002, 01:43 AM Congrats! It's a nice pic! :)
Luckymama58 01-09-2002, 11:12 PM I just received two issues of Motion Picture Magazine. One is the September 75 issue where Freddie talks about his faith and growing up surrounded by drugs. The second is the April 77 issue with an article about star suicides, including Freddie's. This is a very good analysis of the phenomenon. Both articles can be found at http://content.communities.msn.com/EdBrownsGarage/_whatsnew.msnw
Read and enjoy.
BTW I have three more magazines coming! Two Tiger Beats and the third I can't remember.... I swear I just bid on these things! I am losing brain cells every day! :rotflmao:
Cheryl Harrell 01-10-2002, 02:38 AM Thanks for sharing those with us. ! :) You do a great job! :)
I saw a magazine up for bid with him in it that I'd love to have but the big question is can I afford it? Yikes. If you want it tho you can bid on it! :)
Cheryl Harrell 01-10-2002, 07:47 AM I took the pic from the articles that Luckymama posted & colorized it. I've seen color pics of him wearing that shirt & sorry I didn't get the colors quite accurate but they are hard to duplicate so I had to get as close as I could remember off the top of my head. Sorry the skin, hair & lips look like a little kid did it but I'm no expert at colorizing. I did try at it tho. Enjoy! :)
Pitooey 01-10-2002, 08:25 PM Cheryl - He looks beautiful........ (sniff) :crying:
Cheryl Harrell 01-11-2002, 07:53 AM Glad you liked it! Sorry I didn't do so hot a job on it but I'm new to all this. Started playing around with Photoshop etc after getting into Freddie...
Cheryl Harrell 01-13-2002, 05:12 AM Warning you may get a coronary after reading this LOL! I got my Freddie pin-ups that I got over E-Bay! :) One is an article of him with a pic of him wearing bellbottom jeans & a t-shirt that says It's Not My job, Man. Yummy photo!:) One of them is the photo that is on Hillbillys site that says It hasn't always been funny. & There was one with him & Erik Estrada in it. Thanks to seeing that one & me saying I came across a site on Erik Estrada the other day & he still looks good for his age my hubby now thing I'm gonna get a thing for Erik Estrada. No way. LOL! ;) & There were a few more but this is the highlights.
Anyway, The pin-up poster of him is hot & says on it Heartbreaker of the Month! Anyway what will make ya'll have a coronary is...
He is wearing his studded black leisure suit. I call those leisure suits that are studded like that, Puertorican leisure suits since you saw alot of Latino guys wearing them. In the pic he has on no shirt under the suit jacket & dig this...
His navel is showing!!!! :)
So here is a scan of it. It was too big to scan the whole thing so I had to scan each half & then attempt to put the scans of each half together on the puter. Here tis! Enjoy!
Cheryl Harrell 01-13-2002, 05:13 AM It posted the message 3 times LOL! So I am editing the last 2 LOL!
Cheryl Harrell 01-13-2002, 05:16 AM Edited again LOL!
Oh yeah! Does anyone know what Carino (It looks like that's what he wrote on it) means?
Karen64 01-13-2002, 08:32 AM Wow! What a yummmmy picture!!!! And what a cute little belly button! Thats kinda rare because I don't think Freddie was comfortable showing a whole lot of skin! (Just like Freddie, Jr.!)
I love the pic! :eyes: :loveya:
Luckymama58 01-13-2002, 08:38 AM Cheryl, Thank you for sharing this picture with us. I had saved this picture when it was shown on eBay, but it looks so much better close up! Yummy!
Carino is the Spanish word for affection or another word for love. Freddie seemed to use it all the time when he signed things, that or "Carinos" which would translate "with affection" or "with love".
Cheryl, you enjoy those clippings...you sure earned them!
MariposaLKB 01-13-2002, 09:36 AM Oooooh!!! Isn't it amazing how he could look all sweet and innocent and yet his eyes are saying, "Come and get me!"? I don't know if I like the pictures around the sides of the poster though--seems like he was trying too hard to look tough. I love that little-boy look! And don't EVEN get me started on that cute bellybutton!!! OH HONEY!!!
Pitooey 01-13-2002, 11:10 AM Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! ( Don't mind me I'm getting a coronary)....... He looks so darn fine!!! Wooooooooo....... Our Prinze!!!    :eyes:
Cheryl Harrell 01-13-2002, 11:38 AM Thanks! I think I did read somewhere that he was a modest type person & I also read he refused to pose nude for Playgirl magazine. Thanks for the info on Carino! He is so cute in the picture! :)
Cheryl Harrell 01-13-2002, 11:43 AM Since I know some of you would love to have this pic for your walls or whatever I am gonna post both halves of the pinup poster & then you can print them out & tape them together & have a pin-up poster of him... :)
Cheryl Harrell 01-13-2002, 11:45 AM And part 2:
Luckymama58 01-13-2002, 05:24 PM Cheryl, Thank you for posting it in two pieces. I was able to take them and run them through the Photoshop and reconfigured them and reduced the size. I have not altered the image any, but this is what it looks like put back together!
Thanks again for sharing this yummy image!
BTW Mariposa and Karen 64 are right...that navel is to get lost in!
Pitooey 01-13-2002, 09:07 PM Thank you Cheryl and Luckymama.......... In the left hand top corner it says Heartbreaker of the month......... He sure was.... :liplick: :liplick: :liplick: :typing:
Luckymama58 01-13-2002, 11:58 PM I played some more with photoshop! Enjoy!
hue_mee 01-14-2002, 12:14 AM Cheryl,
Thank you, thank you, thank you ! Love that poster! Love that belly botton. Wouldn't you love to lick champange off that belly botton!:liplick: Excuse me while I go stick my head in the freezer !
Cheryl Harrell 01-14-2002, 08:48 AM Thanks for fixing the photo fpor me. I couldn't get it to do quite right. He is sooo cute in it!
tylersmistress2002 01-14-2002, 10:08 AM I think you are rite about him being uncomfortable about showing skin....Lord knows we never got to see enuf of it on CATM. I remember when he was rooming with Ed and they argue and he says he is going out...he was wearing his PJs and took off his top and darn it...he was wearing a T-shirt!
MariposaLKB 01-14-2002, 01:38 PM There were only two times on the show that I can recall Freddie going shirtless. The first was in the pilot, and I have often wondered how he was talked into that, or if that was before he decided not to show skin? Maybe the uproar over him going without a shirt (if there was one--girls going nuts over him before he was used to that) was what caused him to not want to be photographed that way anymore? The picture on this poster is obviously from very early on as well--maybe he was pressured to pose this way.
The second time--in an extremely sad, ironic twist--was in the episode in which Chico becomes a boxer. It was shown (I believe) the night after he had shot himself but before he died, in place of another which was scheduled. I guess the producers thought would be too sad if he had already died by the time it aired. I think it was the one with Cesar Romero as his father, and I have to agree that if his life had ended by the time it was shown, yes that would have been tooo hard for any real fan to watch--Freddie cried real tears in that one, over the talk about his (Chico's) mother. But the boxer one I bet was made at Freddie's insistence--he was obviously working out for real, and he probably wanted to show off how wonderful he looked! So tragic--he was just becoming comfortable with himself, and he was already almost gone by the time the public saw that!
Luckymama58 01-14-2002, 06:05 PM Just to let everyone know.... I got the Oct 75 issue of Tiger Beat Magazine and posted the very short article about Freddie at
http://content.communities.msn.com/EdBrownsGarage/_whatsnew.msnw
Please enjoy....
BTW I agree with you, Mariposa....Freddie did look like he had been working out...too bad he didn't get the chance to enjoy it more! :crying: :( :crying:
Cheryl Harrell 01-15-2002, 06:40 PM Thanks for posting that! That was a neat article. I'll just assume he was a nice guy! :)
tylersmistress2002 01-16-2002, 09:38 AM I vaguely remember that episode (boxing). I would love to get a copy of it. Tho I am sure he is probably very thin. I kinda liked him with the round face...his dimples were more pronounced! :)
Don't forget, in the beginning of the show when Ed opens the door and Chico is in the shower. We get a quick glimpse of him shirtless too!
MariposaLKB 01-16-2002, 10:20 AM Tylersmistress, the part of the pilot when Ed opens the men's room door and Chico is showering is the part I was talking about, as well as after Chico goes into the van and is getting dressed--he pops out the sunroof without his shirt and puts his red T-shirt on while talking to Ed.
In the boxing episode, yes he was thin but he had great muscle definition LOL! Didn't strike me as too thin--but then I am married to a man who is six foot two and, though he never gets on a scale, probably doesn't weigh much more than 165 and doesn't work out hee hee! Compared to my husband Freddie looked like Mr. America in that episode!
Cheryl Harrell 01-16-2002, 12:56 PM Umm, Umm, Umm, Freddie shirtless... I need a cold shower! ;) He was so hot shirtless in those scenes. We needed to see Chico shower more... :)
Karen64 01-16-2002, 08:38 PM I wonder why he was so skittish about showing more skin? He had a perfect bod! Maybe he had high morals about that kinda stuff..........
Cheryl Harrell 01-16-2002, 09:44 PM I'm bettin he had high morals about that kinda stuff. I had read where he refused to pose n ude for PLAYGIRL magazine. We used to have nmnorals about that kind of stuff too untilt eh CATM re-runbs camer on TVLAND & we saw Fredie on there. :)
tylersmistress2002 01-17-2002, 09:35 AM I am sure he did have high morals and we also have to remember there was a time when he was a chubby kid so he may have been shy about showing off his body, even tho WE KNOW it was perfect!
Cheryl Harrell 01-23-2002, 02:04 PM There was a 16 MM movie clip of an ad for CATM that was shown on tv stations to advertise the show up for bid. Strangers who aren't on any of the CATM/Freddie sites bid on it. So sad...
Here 'tis:
http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1502233439&r=0&t=0&showTutorial=0&ed=1011592670&indexURL=0&rd=1
And a strangers who isn't on any of the CATM/Freddie sites outbid Luckymama on a magazine. It is so unfair! :(
LADY LOVES FREDDIE 01-27-2002, 10:57 AM I missed that one  darnit , I would have bid. Oh well. I cant seem to find good things unless Cheryl puts them up for us to see LOL I go under Freddie Prinze sr but theres usually like 2 items. Cheryl finds the good stuff :D
