View Full Version : Is the town you live in boring? I mean SMALL AND BORING!!!!!

My town is sooooooooooo small (419 people) and there's a bar and a grocery store and a Kum & Go. It's "somewhat" exciting during the day but it's SO DULL at nite! (Got sitcomsonline.com message boards to keep me busy lol!)

But I drove my bro to his girlfriends house (i've never been there at night) to Farnhamville and its a bit bigger than Churdan but there is NOTHING there either, NOT EVEN A GAS STATION OR A SCHOOL! It sucked badly! nothing but street lights and gravel roads pretty much.

My point is:

Is your town always like that?
Mine is around 40% of the time but since we've gotten the bar our town is on the map lol!

With 200,000+ people, a screwed up mayor, constant budget cuts, some violent schools, and the never-ending Basketball Hall of Fame project? I doubt it.

No, its big, with a lot of stuff..its the people that are boring. Well, the ones I live near. They don't even turn on their lights on sundays, or use cars on certain days(something to do with their religion). We are "catholic", so we are the anti-christs of the block:lol:.

Heck no. I wouldn't be caught dead in a town that small. Well, I might have died of boredom I guess.

We have 30K. We live around towns of 50K, 300K, and all the burbs. We have 3 universities/colleges. Make that 4, I forgot one.

We've asked politely and we've even posted suggestions. I still say we need to extend our sigs and make his computer go slow. We shorten our sigs when he shortens his.

Anyway, my town is very small and very boring.

This holiday season, it felt like there was a billion people here in New York City - all of them standing in my way!

Sometimes I miss the New Jersey suburb I grew up in. Sure it was boring, but at least I didn't have to bob and weave my way up the sidewalk just to get home.

I live in a community that has 500 people, tops. We have a school, two gas stations, and that is it. There is nothing to do here, but I still like it here. Everyone knows everyone and we are like a huge family. (50% are kinned anyway, but let's not go there.) The school I go to has about 400 people in it, and it is preschool-12th grade, so it's really small. Everyone is so close and each grade is like a big family of brothers and sisters. I dont think I could ever date anyone in my grade, that's how close we are.

Indian Point is one of the biggest or the biggest nuclear power plant on the east coast. Apparently it is now also a terrorist target, so we get to have KI pills in school. If anything happens to Indian Point, it'll just wipe out half of New York State including NYC. So it doesn't give me much of a chance considering I live 10 mins away. Wow...that was depressing...

Nope, not Churdan. But think that, only add a hick personality to the 500 people there, and that would be Hubbertville. Located in the sticks of Alabama, a place time has forgotten.

Why don't you try living in this town? Most everyone is stuck up. People get killed here more now than ever. The high school that I graduated was the first school where a student killed his teacher and a janitior and held 22 people hostage. Do you want to live here now? I think not.

Well Holdrege Nebraska can be boring most of the time. Holdrege has 5,671,the biggest city closest to us is Kearney and thats about 35 miles away. However the teenagers can make for some ecitment:lol: that is why we have the lot. Some businesses we have are Pizza Hut,Taste of Country,Taste of Chicago,Sail Inn Lounge,McDonalds,Taco Johns and Runza for resturants and they are about to buils a Sonic and Little cesars. We have a pamida, video mart,Abramson's Appliance,Hilsabeck's sporting goods,Barbies pet plus, the East Ave. pub (a very popular hangout) COOP, 2 casey's, Gas'n Shop,Pump and pantry, 7 dentist offices, cheese corner,2 doctors offices,1 hospital,4 banks, 1 funeral home,2 sunmart foods,3 car dealar ships,2 real estate places, 1 swimming pool which they are finaly going to put a slide in,2 parks,1 baby clothes store,2 car washes,3 motels two are decent and the other yikes, 2 vet places,1 physical theropy place,5 aouto body shops, 1 concrete place,1 cattle store, ESU, campus life, 1 high school, which I graduated from last year class of 2002,it is an interesting school because every time there is a fight every body cheers it on even the teachers don't get that involved in less it gets bad and all of the kids enjoyed cheese day, everyone just about got along and the good thing there were no groups such "preps" or "outcasts" every one just got along. These are some places in Holdrege Nebraska they are alo going to build a new jail and a YMCA! Holdrege is the only town I know of that if there is a tornado everyone goes outside instead of the basement including myself. There are only three exciting things that I know of as far as events. Every year we have a country music singer come to our fair, in 1989 there was a shootout here it was scary becauese my grandpa,my brother and me were outside when that happened, there were alot of windows shot out,but know one was hurt the shootout ended when one of the bad guys shot his own hand, and in 1993 we had a huge wind storm winds of over 110 mph, lots of damage, but know one was hurt thankfully. This is what Holdrege Nebraska has to offer, but alot of people think its boring, but I think its ok. Oh I almost fogot that Holdrege has some of the nicest people you could ever meat!:)

Well my town of Athol MA has a population of about 12,000 people. I wouldn't really call it a small town but it's certainly not a big town. But it's odd in good shape. My town is rather poor and it's not even the states fault. I was actully looking through some pictures of my town about 100 years ago (yes I bored) and considering what it looked like than, my town is a dump.

Gawd, my town is Richwood, WV. where's that?, you say..What's WV? Is that a state? I think there's 2,800 people here, but now I think we're down to 1,500. This place is known as the ramp capital of the world (ugh) A ramp is a stinky wild vegetable thing that people actually eat and I think they're crazy! The only stores we have include Foodland (I work there) Rite Aid, Dollar General, Go-Mart, and Mountaineer Mart. There might be a couple that I missed. The only restaurants we have are Pizza Hut, Dairy Queen, C & S aka "Suzy's", and The Lumberjack. I get soooo bored in my town and I swear the people are crazy. Well, not everybody, but people act different here..Everybody's related here too! Our town used to boom and now it's sad. :( I've always lived here though and never out of state much. I get excited when I get to go to Charleston, WV.. :happyface It's the biggest city I think that I've been to, & there's only like 30,000 people...:D

Actually the population of Greene County is less than 10,000 people.

Here's what WE have:

CHURDAN:
Kum & Go
Churdan Foods
Library
United Bank of Iowa
Post Office
K-12 School
Self Serve 24 hour gas pumps
a LOT of Ag businesses
FC (Farmer's Coop)

JEFFERSON:
Pamida
Dollar General
Ben Franklin
Sierra Movie Theatre/Video Rental Store
Don's Ace Hardware
Jim's SuperValu (I used to work there ugh.)
Fareway Economical Food Stores
Post Office
Wells Fargo Bank
People's Bank
Home State Bank
Rec Center (Opened in 1998)
Texaco
Casey's General Store (1)
Casey's General Store (2)
Kum & Go
Sparky's One Stop (I used to work at the one in Lake City; Truckstop)
DrugTown Pharmacy
Medicap Pharmacy
Power Wash
3J Car Wash
Pizza Hut
Breadaux Pizza
The Family Table
Uptown Cafe
Dairy Queen
The Pizza Ranch
Twiins Shoppe (ripoff of DQ but cheaper prices)
Lincolnway Grill
Bunker's Dunkers
Subway
Peony Chinese Restaurant
The Tea Garden
A&W Drive-In (Best place in town but open only in summer:mad:)
Walt's Hallmark
KGRA 98.3 FM Country
Mary Ann's Clothing
Linda's Fashions
Harper's Heaven Bound (Christian Bookstore ew)
CompuSense (Christian Computer Repair, used to work there for school ew)
Redemption Centre
H&R Block
Edward Jones Investments
McAtee Goodyear Tyre
Firestone Smith Tyre (My dad works here, we are buying the shop before April!)
Skating Rink (Oh god ANOTHER Christian place, I don't go to it since all they play is Gospel Christian Music and talk nothing of Jesus ew)

Believe it or not, this is a town of 4.626 people and we have 21 CHURCHES!

Library
Post Office
Motor Parts
Napa Auto Parts
Vision Centre/Dentist Offices
Hospital
AC Delco Tyre and Auto Centre
Greene County Motors

Man we have more than it seems! But we don't have SHlT for restaurants. We want a McDonald's or Burger King because every restaurant is hella expensive in this town. You can't spend less than 3 dollars on a Hamburger because DQ is the only hamburger place during the winter and they are the most expensive restaurant in town. A&W is KIND of reasonable though.

We don't have any real hangouts except this cemetary (Farmers Valley) one of my friends has a cabin about a mile away from there and everybody goes out there and pluse my friends family takes care of the cemetary so we always hang out there. Cool! I'm glad there is a fellow Nebraskan on here to talk to!
Who is your best friends Aunt and Uncle maybe I know them? My brother and I stopped in Sutton last year coming back from a Nebraska football game it seems to be a nice little town. My class had 105 graduates. Our graduations didn't go that well because a few days before we had a rehersal and the principal told us when we had to stand up,well when the time came we all forgot to stand up I remember the girl sitting next to me asked me if we were supposed to stand up and I said I think so,then when they were giving us our diplomas they couldn't find one of them and it took 5 minutes before they finaly found it. Do you know the Butler family they used to live in Sutton, they moved to Holdrege 5 or 6 years ago. There names were Mark,Julie,Andy and Lesilie?

Like I mentioned one of Holdrege's main hangouts is the lot, however its on 4th Ave. and the police get called there a lot though, other than that alot of the teenagers like to hang out at the bowing alley, alot of the older people like to go to the East Ave. Pub.

Something actually exciting happend in Holdrege again. Well it first started out when An old lady was chewing out a High school student in the middle of the street both of them got out of there cars, Then there was a fight with a gun involved and the guy with the gun hit the other guy in the head and had to call an ambulance, plus both guys were arrested. Hey maybe Holdrege is getting more exciting now once they build these new things that they say are going to be built I think Holdrege will be out of the boring catagory

I don't even live in a town - I live in a tiny wee village that only has one shop and one post office and that's it!! I know it says that I live in Helensburgh on my profile but I only put that cos Helensburgh is the nearest town to me. And even then Helensburgh isn't that big - there's only about 2 streets that have shops on 'em and the shops are crap! Everything else is just banks, offices and houses!
I hate my village and I hate Helensburgh! Everyone here is stuck in that small-town mentality. For any normal person, visiting Helensburgh is like stepping into a timewarp. Socially, we're like 30 years behind the rest of the world.
I can totally sympathise with Nate. Growing up in a small town sucks cos there's never anything to do but it's a million times worse if you're 'that little bit different'. It was so hard being a teenager here and having to grow up and realiseing that I'm gay. It's never an easy thing to go through but it's a billion times harder when you're constantly surrounded by people with old-fashioned values who think that gay people should be burned at the stake!
When I get a bit of money together I'm getting the fu'ck outta here and I'm moving to London. They actually have gay clubs and bars there! That's my dream - to actually see the inside of a gay club. If I continue living in Helensburgh I'll never know what that's like - all the bars here are straight and I get nothing but abuse every time I go in 'em!
