SPLAIN 01-08-2003, 12:07 PM As much as i never liked Mooney, i still enjoyed Lucy in Hollywood with all the guest stars! LucyFan 01-10-2003, 12:01 AM Favorite Seasons In Order: #1. Season One and Two (*tie*) #3. Season Five #4. Season Three #5. Season Six #6. Season Four Based on the order of my favorite seasons . . . format I. Btw, I like BOTH Vivian Bagley and Mr. Mooney. bweir 01-10-2003, 11:50 PM Originally posted by SPLAIN As much as i never liked Mooney, i still enjoyed Lucy in Hollywood with all the guest stars! :( LOL I can't decide between the two formats. Both had so much to offer. LucyFan 01-11-2003, 06:37 AM Originally posted by bweir I can't decide between the two formats. Both had so much to offer. I agree! oldshows 01-14-2003, 06:40 PM Format 1 was by far the best. Lucy and Viv were great together as they were in ILL. There were many great episodes, especially in season one with so many classics. They were very well written. While format 2 was ok, the plots could get really lame. Many didn't have a logical set up to them to make Lucy's crazy situations seem real. And all those guest stars all the time, while it was great to see Lucy with them, got old after a while. Also, Lucy wasn't the same during the second format. She was at times too spiteful and aggressive and at times just plain out stupid. Lucy Ricardo and during format one Lucy Carmichael were zany but they weren't stupid. Now I'm not saying I just hate format 2 b/c I don't and there were a few great episodes like Lucy Meets the Berles it just didn't do it for me like format 1. SPLAIN 01-15-2003, 12:43 PM I TOLD you Oldshows that i always say that, BUT, i may be changing my tune soon as the Lucy show eps are up to season two now, when i finally see the last three years in a few weeks or months, i might have to change my opinion, it's just that i haven't seen them in so long and also the fact that i think she looked so great in color, and i loved her with the guest stars, but Gary's influence must have been felt more by then too! Do we really need to have this discussion again....... SPLAIN 01-16-2003, 04:45 PM Unfortunately, he was a very big part of her life, wether we like it or not, anyway he made her happy for most of those 28 years they were together, of course, fifteen years of that he was out playing golf, but still! LOL, we must have this discussion again:lol: :p Obviously Gary was a huge part of her life (he was her husband and the executive producer on the show), but we can't assume what his role was or became on TLS and/or HL based on "Desilu". I'm sorry, I know many people here and Lucy fans in general LOVE that book, but I think it's a piece of garbage. And for more than it's uh...stories......about Gary. Overall it's really just a tabliod/trashy tell-all book. I HATE those types of books. Unfortunately, when it comes to bios on famous individuals that's the only type book we get. |
