I am kind of pissed off from what my mother called and told me today, last night some punks broke into her house while she was asleep and stole her keys and wallet (fortunately it had only $11 in it) and took her car out for a run to McDonald's before leaving it
in some crummy housing project about a mile up the street. It upsets me to think of what COULD HAVE happened.

I'd personally like to break these guys' fingers off. For starters.

That's horrible. Hopefully they'll catch the crooks.

They have an idea who it was. Some kids who were friends up the street with some other kid in her neighborhood, finding clues like the McDonald's bag and overheard playing VERY LOUD RAP on her car stereo, etc. One good thing about it is that these punks didn't cover their tracks too well...which makes it easier to nail them.

That's a shame. I live very close to the police station so there's not a lot of crime anywhere close to where I live.

How old do you estimate these kids are? If they are 13-17, they should be lucky they don't live in California. A few years ago, we voted for a law allowing juveniles as early as 13 years of age (maybe even less) to be tried as an adult for certain crimes.

What's REALLY strange is this housing project where these punks drove it to has its OWN police station. I guess it doesn't get any worse than that...

Thanks everybody. It's especially hard when your mother has spent the last year recovering from cancer. She's doing better, but she sure doesn't need this hanging over her head.

They should get their own fricken car and go to mcdonalds.

My school got robbed like a year ago. Some teenagers broke in at night and stole a computer monitor, a laptop, and i think some other stuff. They also got a fire extinguisher and sprayed the screens of the computers in the library [including mine but none of em got damaged] and sprayed it on the floor and left their footprints in it. And they threw a copy machine and some other stuff over the fence, and one of em's blood was on the entrance door. We didnt have school the next day cuz the police were looking for prints, it was kinda scary.

That's terrible. At least they didn't hurt your mother at all.

That's just awful. I'm glad it wasn't worse, say if she woke up during the robbery.

I'm sorry your mom got robbed. I'm glad she wasn't hurt, though. Hopefully they catch the crooks.

With Inspector Captain Abl on the case, I'd say those kids are in for a load of it. Keep your spy glass and gumshoes in working order Captain. You'll get em'.
I got robbed once while sleeping in my house. The thief was only a few feet away from me. I know because things were stolen from the dresser top. It's a very unsettling feeling when you think about it. Your mom was lucky, as everyone has said, but keep an eye on her. That sort of thing tends to have a unexpected delayed backlash effect on the nervous system. Good luck with all of this Captain.

That IS an unsettling feeling, having them right there close to you. My mother said she was on medication so she was too asleep to notice...I hope she deals with it okay, I sure don't want her to get sicker than she has been. That's been the hard part. These kids are a bunch of punks, but you never know...

I'm really sorry...I know how it feels. Even though it wasn't MUCH that got stolen that you didnt get back ($11), it still scares you. Our house was broken into in August and there are still some nights i cant sleep by myself.
