Flora 04-01-2001, 01:46 PM If Freddie were still here, he probably would have been making movies by now ...
What kind of movie role(s) would you like to see Freddie play?
I see him in "The Three Musketeers." Still playing it funny, but in those loose shirts and boots, with a sword! And how about those swordfighting scenes? Wow!
MariposaLKB 04-01-2001, 06:31 PM Not to mention the tight pants-Mmmmmm...!
I see him a remake of "West Side Story," as Maria's brother, singing and dancing and making us cry when he dies. Or maybe in a GOOD Zorro movie--swords and tight pants again, plus the mask around those huge gorgeous brown eyes!
Luckymama58 04-01-2001, 06:35 PM I have one better, and with sword play. I just finished watching "The Mark of Zorro" with Tyrone Power. I could see Freddie playing the part of Deigo. He could play it straight, with his humor adding to the part, as opposed to doing a farsical send up, as George Hamilton did. I understand from interviews he gave he had always desired to play serious roles. He could have the next Tyrone Power or Douglas Fairbanks Jr.!!!
Luckymama58 04-01-2001, 06:40 PM I posted before I read your reply, mariposa. Again, I think we have a case of great minds thinking alike. I always loved the Zorro movies and the show on Disney. He was such a romantic figure, and Freddie would have been perfect in the role.
MariposaLKB 04-01-2001, 06:51 PM I said that about Zorro not only because I truly could see Freddie in the role, but also because in his mother's book, she says he was into Zorro as a child, watching the show and then trying to be Zorro by jumping off the back of the couch and stuff! (No I don't actually have the book--dying to though!)
Luckymama58 04-01-2001, 06:53 PM I would love to get a copy, also. If I ever come across a copy, It's mine. If I find Two, It's yours too!!!
Pitooey 04-01-2001, 07:04 PM I can definitly see him in those swashbuckler roles! He would look good as Zorro. I can see him in the movie "Don Juan DeMarco" a movie that Johnny Depp played with Marlon Brando. That role would've been good for him too.
Flora 04-01-2001, 07:42 PM What about a more modern scenario, like Mel Gibson in "Lethal Weapon?"
Luckymama58 04-01-2001, 07:47 PM I don't know, maybe. If the part called for a romantic lead with a good sense of humor. And plenty of adventure, maybe not Indiana Jones of James Bond, but something like that, that would highlight Freddie's true talents. AND BODY!!!!
MariposaLKB 04-01-2001, 09:20 PM Re: Don Juan de Marco--I'd take Freddie in that role over Johnny Depp any day, and twice on Sunday!!!! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif
Flora 04-01-2001, 11:25 PM Hey, Luckymama,
Speaking of romantic leads, what about Freddie doing something like Tom Hanks' role in "You've Got Mail?" Imagine that kiss at the end of the movie!!!
MariposaLKB 04-03-2001, 07:08 AM I've got another role for Freddie--how about Antonio Banderas's part in "Evita"? Singing, dancing, looking hot in a military uniform and beret! For that matter, put Freddie in anything Antonio has ever done--Freddie was a much better actor, and he could speak English!
Pitooey 04-03-2001, 12:52 PM Has anyone seen The bridges of Madison county? I can see him in the role better than Clint Eastwood..... WOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Flora 04-08-2001, 09:27 PM I love all these ideas!
I've just been watching "Horatio Hornblower" on A&E.
How about Freddie in Horatio's uniform? Maybe he could play the captain of a Spanish galleon! Yowza!
EdBrownJr 04-08-2001, 11:06 PM Ok this one may sound strange but i could see Freddie being on Whos The Boss as Tony Danza's character.

GET OUT OF MY GARAGE!!!
Cheryl Harrell 04-09-2001, 04:05 AM He would be great on there! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gifIf he were alive today he would've been great on his own sitcom!
Karen64 04-09-2001, 11:26 AM I'm picturing him as a talk show host, like Jay Leno or Dave letterman. That way, he could do some of his stand up comedy on every show..... Or what about a role like Seinfeld? Ahhh, to dream.....
dream...er 04-09-2001, 12:30 PM YUP He would have been best choice for The tonight show. Perfect. Thenmaybe I'd watch it!!!
Flora 04-10-2001, 10:45 PM I love visualizing all these ideas!
How about this one? Freddie in the lead role in DANGEROUS LIAISONS. 18th century dress, longer hair in the pony tail. Freddie would have John Malkovich's role seducing the young married woman...
I really had to "dig" to come up with this one. Hope you guys saw this movie, it's been a few years since it was out.

chicosladyfair 04-10-2001, 11:41 PM I, personally, can see Freddie taking over every role Antonio Banderras has had. He would have been dreamy in Evita...I'll bet he could sing like a bird.
Cheryl Harrell 04-11-2001, 07:47 AM He'd have been a great talk show host! I think my hubby & I were discussing that the other day. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif
Cheryl Harrell 04-11-2001, 08:04 AM I found this pic on the net :http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1422758318
If ya can't afford it you can do like I did & save a copy to your puter for your own use to look at and enjoy! He can paint my house anytime. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif
Pitooey 04-11-2001, 10:59 AM I can see Freddie in the Dangerous liasons episode. I could picture myself slithering in a period gown under him. LOL http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Hey, that's the same thing I said elsewhere--and that at least Freddie could speak English! I just know he could sing, too--I talk about this all the time cuz it's one of my favorite Broadway shows, but when Freddie breaks into "Tonight" from West Side Story on his comedy album, I can tell even from that one word that he could be heard in the back of the house!
Flora 04-17-2001, 11:16 PM I hate to keep bringing up "Horatio Hornblower" on the "Chico" message board, but last night I watched the 2nd installment and the English captured the Spanish fort commander and his wife. The commander ain't got nothin' on Freddie, but he had the dark hair and moustache, AND that 18th century naval uniform! Looking at the picture of Freddie on this board, I can see him in that costume now and I'm getting drool on my keyboard.
The commander also escapes so he had some sword-fighting scenes. Oops, more drool! I'd better stop before I short out the computer!
MariposaLKB 05-24-2001, 05:28 PM Reading the stories by Ana Moreno gave me this idea--how about Freddie as a vampire in general or Dracula in particular? The fan letter story says he was a fan of Bram Stoker. I can see that--anyone else?
Luckymama58 05-24-2001, 05:33 PM OOOOOOhhhh, I could see Freddie as that sexy blood sucker! He could suck on my neck all night till I didn' have a drop left. Then I would be his for all eternity, just like in the story! Dracula, come get me!!!! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Pitooey 05-24-2001, 07:10 PM Luckymama "You are so wild"! LOL I can see him as Dracula......... I would follow him wherever he'd go. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
atlangel 05-25-2001, 10:13 AM Oh, if only it were possible. I could see him in romantic, leading man roles. With some conflict with the lady in his life, he pouring out his heart to her, lots of dramatic dialogue and close ups of his Adonis-like features.
I think he would have surprised many with his range in dramatic roles.
Luckymama58 05-25-2001, 10:07 PM I just thought of another place I would have loved to see Freddie, Broadway. Could you imagine him in the Phantom of the Opera! He could sing, so he would be great in any musical that called for a romantic lead. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif
Flora 05-25-2001, 11:26 PM Speaking of Broadway, how about Freddie in "Les Miserables?" Maybe as Marius... (didn't Ricky Martin play that role at one time) or Jean Valjean if he were a little older, with the white hair.
Luckymama58 05-26-2001, 12:25 AM Hey, I heard Ricky Martin is supposed to play Zorro on the London stage. I still say that was the part Freddie was born to play! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Luckymama58 05-26-2001, 07:28 AM Hey, I've been reading the autobiography of Jackie Chan. I think he is a hoot. The way he talks about his attitude toward life growing up reminds me a little of Freddie's. I had a thought about a movie I'd like to see. A buddy comedy with Freddie and Jackie. Freddie took karate and Jackie is only 3 years older than Freddie. They would have been so funny together! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
"Fists of Laughter!"
Luckymama58 06-09-2001, 09:01 AM Hey, with all the speculation about how long the CATM show would have gone, I wanted to resurrect this thread cause I think CATM would have only had as many more seasons as Freddie's movie career would have allowed! I would love to see some of our newer members respond to this thread. What role would you have liked to see Freddie play? It can be an existing role or maybe some of the playwrights in the crowd can think of original roles! They can be funny, romantic, adventurous, slick, goodguy, badguy, whatever! Inquiring minds want to know!
Flora 06-10-2001, 10:03 PM How about Freddie in a classy comedy like the old "Dick Van Dyke Show?" I just saw a DVD episode where Dick takes an adult ed class in painting and the teacher comes on to him and gives him private lessons in her studio. I see some hot scene potential there.
Cheryl Harrell 06-10-2001, 10:56 PM Great idea! I love the DICK VAN DYKE show too & he would've been great with Dick Van Dyke! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif
chicosladyfair 06-11-2001, 09:30 PM I've thought long and hard about this and the one role I would have liked to see him in was the part that Edward James Olmos played in the movie Zoot Suit. Does anybody remember that movie? It was a film of a Broadway play. Most actors who came from a stage background usually go back to it after thet have accomplished all else. I think Freddie would have eventually gone back to the stage.
MariposaLKB 10-06-2001, 02:35 PM I know that awhile back the subject of Freddie as Dracula was addressed here but I have another one for you in that same vein (sorry, very bad pun, I know!)--the TV movie that was on TBS (I think--it has taken me several days to locate this thread again!) the other night, "Dark Prince--The True Story of Dracula". I could see him as Prince Vlad, if he let him hair grow almost down to his waist (Mmmmmmmmm!) and wore it pulled back from his forehead like the actor in this movie! Plus I have seen old engravings which supposedly are pictures of Prince Vlad, and he had a mustache--this actor didn't.

MariposaLKB 10-06-2001, 02:40 PM Excuse two posts in a row but I had another idea occur to me just this morning. Freddie as an opera singer! I don't know much about opera but I do know Freddie had a beautiful tenor voice, and I can see him as a romantic lead much more than some of the operatic tenors around today! I especially think that the "sad clown", Pagliacci, would have suited his personality very well--making everyone laugh while his own sadness is hidden but very close to the surface.

chicosladyfair 10-06-2001, 03:20 PM I like the vampire reference. I could see him in the role of La Stat in Interview With A Vampire...all that long dark hair.
MariposaLKB 10-06-2001, 04:36 PM OMG! Yes! I read that book back when I was in high school, while Freddie was still alive and I for some ridiculous reason wasn't conscious of his existence! Too bad they had to give the role to Brad Pitt--I could never see him in it.

Luckymama58 10-06-2001, 04:41 PM I have watched my share of opera and could picture Freddie is a light comedy opera...not too many of these were written, but something like "Cosi fan Tutti" by Mozart would be good. I am more of a Gilbert and Sullivan fan myself and could see him in the role of the Pirate King in the operetta "The Pirates of Penzance" I have a copy of that on tape with Kevin Kline in the Pirate King role. He did a super job, but I could see Freddie doing it too!

hue_mee 10-07-2001, 11:37 AM I can see Freddie doing a Tarzan movie swinging on the vine ! LOL. Or maybe a movie with the Rat Pack ! Or a version with freddie in Gone with the wind!
luvinjuan1980 10-07-2001, 02:49 PM I could see Freddie in a Sleepless in Seattle
type movie, set in New York.
I would love to see him teamed up in a movie with Robert Hegyes. Two hunks in one movie
chicosladyfair 10-07-2001, 11:03 PM Luckymama,
you put me in mind of a movie I saw in my English class in high school (1982). We were studying Shakespere and the teacher brought in a copy of Taming of The Shrew...but this one was different. It was a filmed copy of an actual theatre in the round...probably early 80's with Raul Julia and Meryl Streep. It was so funny and I have only seen it that one time. Have you ever seen this movie? I could see Freddie in the lead role.
Luckymama58 10-08-2001, 11:53 AM I have not seen that movie but I did see a stage production of that play when I was in High School. It was a great play and yes, I could see Freddie in that play! It would be a little funny hearing him quoting Shakespeare, though http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/lol.gif

chicosladyfair 10-08-2001, 11:59 AM http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/rotflmao.gif Especially with a Puerto Rican accent.
Cheryl Harrell 10-08-2001, 02:31 PM LOL! I noticed in some CATM episodes he'd go back & forth between using a normal accent & using his Puerto-Rican Accent. One minute he talks normal, the next he talks Puerto-Rican & then the next minute he's back to normal again...
Luckymama58 10-15-2001, 06:40 PM I could so see Freddie doing Broadway... especially something like Phantom of the Opera or even better Cats... I could picture him in the role of Mr. Mistoffelees, in that tight black and brown leotard and all feline looking, strutting around on stage looking sooooo sexy! Meoooooooow! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/eyes.gif

chicosladyfair 10-15-2001, 10:07 PM We just got done watching "A Knight's Tale". Even though he wasn't British...Freddie is so cavalier and chivalrous. It's funny how I can see Freddie in just about every romantic movie I watch. We also watched "The Mummy Returns". I love Brendan Frazer but I would have gladly watched Freddie rummage through the pyramids.
These are both FABULOUS movies, by the way. I highly recommend both.
Pitooey 10-16-2001, 01:49 PM I'm not sure if I mentioned this before but, can anyone see Freddie in Wuthering heights as Heathcliff? Wooooooooooo!!!!! He would've been P E R F E C T in that role...... http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/love.gif http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/eyes.gif http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/love.gif http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/eyes.gif http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/love.gif
MariposaLKB 10-16-2001, 03:44 PM He could certainly handle the British accent! And I think Heathcliff is always portrayed as dark, both in his looks and his moods. Freddie could do that!

Pitooey 10-16-2001, 07:20 PM He could also play the role that Daniel Day Louis played in "Age of Innocence". http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/love.gif http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/eyes.gif http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/love.gif
MariposaLKB 10-20-2001, 05:19 PM I watched a movie last night in which I could definitely see Freddie in the lead more so than the actor who was actually in it: "City of Angels" with Nicolas Cage as an angel who chooses to become human because he has fallen in love with a woman--a heart surgeon played by Meg Ryan. At one point in the movie, she says to him, "You are so beautiful...you always will be!" I could see someone saying that to Freddie, but to me Nicolas Cage just doesn't qualify as beautiful--good-looking maybe, but Freddie was a beautiful man!

chicosladyfair 10-20-2001, 11:44 PM You got that right Mariposa. Freddie was definitely a beautiful man. Nicolas Cage is nice...he'll do in a pinch...but not like Freddie...OMG that man is gorgeous!
