If this thread had been labelled "Favorite Doo-Wop Song", I'd be having a difficult time...but these three are on the top of my list. I'd have to add "You Belong to Me" by the Duprees. Oh, and "Little Darlin." And anything by Dion and the Belmonts. Ah forget it...I can't pick a favorite. :)

Good! :)
Those three I listed have great harmony.
"You Belong to Me" (1962) is currently #15 on my informal top 40 list which I update about once a year. "Little Darlin'" (1957) used to be on my list about 10 years ago, but has dropped down. I still like it, but only so many songs can fit on a top 40 list! My favorite Dion and the Belmonts song is "I Wonder Why" from 1958. Next favorite- "A Teenager in Love" (1959).

Yeah, out here, too. There used to be stations which did "American Grafitti" weekends ('50s/early '60s music). It was great. For some reason, they stopped doing it. One was KRTH-FM 101.1. These days, they keep doing "Motown" weekends- nowhere near the same thing as Doo-Wop. For a while, there was a station (AM 930) that played only music from 1955-1965. A great idea! It was fun while it lasted.
I found this list from a radio show I used to listen to and record:
KRLA 1110 AM Johnny Hayes Big 11 Countdown Show...

This day, Nov. 26, on this year, 1956

#11- Oh What A Night- The Dells
extra- Friendly Persuasion- Pat Boone
10- Canadian Sunset- Hugo Winterhalter
9- Honky-Tonk, Part II- Bill Doggett
8- Hey, Jealous Lover- Frank Sinatra
7- Blueberry Hill- Fats Domino
6- Don't Be Cruel- Elvis Presley
extra- A Rose And A Baby Ruth- George Hamilton IV
5- True Love- Bing Crosby
extra- I Walk The Line- Johnny Cash
4- Just Walking In The Rain- Johnnie Ray
3- Singing The Blues- Guy Mitchell
2- Green Door- Jim Lowe
1- Love Me Tender- Elvis Presley

"Extras" were songs moving into the top 11.

Wow...1956! On the radio! It's a rare treat to hear something pre-58 or 59, it seems! You'd think that with the baby-boomers being such a large portion of the population, they'd play more doo-wop.

We used to get Cousin Brucie from WCBS here, just a few years ago! I find it hard to believe that he'd still be doing radio all these years (and out of New York for all of these years!), but I remember listening to him (My father listened to Cousin Brucie when he was a teenager growing up in Manhattan). I really love that music and the only time I hear it on the radio is very late at night, if that. I hope that this art form doesn't get lost like so many other, wonderful things!

Let's hope a few radio stations change to (or begin) an oldies ('50s/early '60s) format. That would be nice!

I've heard of Cousin Brucie, but, being on the west coast, I have not heard his show. We do need more shows like his.

BTW, that radio show I mentioned was on about 15 years ago, from the '80s. It's not on anymore.
