Mondello 01-04-2003, 10:42 AM I'm a foreman for a construction company. I don't enjoy it sometimes but I have a job and I don't have to do much. My wife Homeschools so she has it made. I would love to teach and play with the kids all day.
Barnabas1 01-04-2003, 11:21 AM Mondello, I LOVE your avatar!
I'm homeschooled, so I post, eat, school, and watch TV!:) I LOVE it!
White_Daisy 01-04-2003, 11:36 AM I work at Planned Parenthood...
Just as a secretary type person. Answer the phone, take down appointments, occasionally hand out the emergency birth control if needed. The only job they would give to a high school kid. It's gotten a bit embarrasing because I see people from my school come in. But it's a good part time job in the end.

This may sound stupid to all of you but my nearest Kmart is 25 miles away and my parents won't let me drive more than like 2 miles to ANYWHERE I work. Actually, they want me to work in the town they work in (Jefferson; where I also go to school) in case my car breaks down or something. I did work in Lake City, 20 miles NW of Churdan (town i live in) but that town is a ****hole town with less than 2,000 people and there's like ONE road that people live on lol.
I've been trying for the past year trying to get a job in Jefferson or around me and no such luck yet. Everyone knows me and EVERYONE knows that I got fired from Jim's and prolly the people that work there told EVERY FRIGGIN BUSINESS IN TOWN about me (I didn't think I was THAT bad of an employee). I want a job, really I do just as long as it doesn't involve cleaning or working in a hospital/nursing facility. I do not wipe asses and clean toilets for a living people.

I have been a Certified Nursing Assistant for 3 years....its very honorable work. "Wiping asses" as you put it, is only part of the job. If you couldn't wipe your own...you'd want someone to do it for you, wouldn't you? I have met some very interesting people, with histories that far exceed any expecations of what I hope to achieve. Many of these people have worked everyday of their lives to support families, and have never stopped to consider what a day off is. They have very interesting, endearing stories, and I have fallen in love with many of them.
Back to the topic at hand...I am not working at the moment, I have chosen to continue my education, and am currently in the second phase of school to become a practical nurse. Right back to wiping ***es. I don't feel that is just the CNA's responsibility.
But you are definitely correct, if that is how you feel about that line of work, it is definitely not right for you. But perhaps you will, one day, learn a new respect for they type of person that made a life taking care of the people who have made a life of taking care of people like us.
And CaitlinMoore.... As I state above...there are some jobs that are right for some, and teaching preschool is definitely NOT right for me. I spend two years in a classroom, sometimes two and three times a week, with my daughter's Head Start class (yes, I worked a lot of weekends), and all I have to say is.....MORE POWER TO YOU!
RainMan 01-04-2003, 12:18 PM I don't mean to be rude but did I offend your job? I didn't mean to if I did. I just feel that way.
And wow, there are doctors on this site woah lol! That is cool!

Kay Scarpetta 01-04-2003, 12:32 PM I babysit like crazy. But in May I'm going to work at the most popular pizzeria in Springfield hehe. When I turn 16 I think I'm going to go work at Barnes and Nobels cause like, that's my favorite store...
Montana Ponine 01-04-2003, 02:23 PM Umm sometimes I help my parents sell books for 5-10 dollars a day...which is pretty good...but I don't really like it. lol.
ILuvJoandBlair 01-04-2003, 03:37 PM I work at KB toy store.
Blair85 01-04-2003, 03:58 PM I'm a cashier at Foodland (pretty much the only place to work here) and I like it. I have good & bad days, but I'd rather work there then in fast food. It's crazy where I work! The employees are nuts! It can be alot of fun like last night, we had no customers in the store at one time so the bag boys got all the carts and wheeled them around the store in one big line. The customers get on my nerves though b/c they can be so dumb! I like most everybody that works there and we get along. Kim is funny though b/c she is crazy, and last night someone caught an ash tray on fire & she saved the store (it was so funny, but you had to be there) RainMan, there's also a friend I work with that used to work at....K-MART!!!! :D
ABlairican Pie 01-04-2003, 04:47 PM I work at a clothing donation solicitation pickup facility with a bunch of moronic imbeciles that couldn't get a job anywhere else because they're braindead dysfunctional doinks... Well not everyone's that bad, but.... You know the type. So why do I have to scrape the bottom of the barrel?:(

Having visited hospitals (the outpatient, patient rooms, and emergency), I've always been impressed with the nurses, assistant nurses, interns, doctors, etc. Several times, I've had to bring my mom to emergency for several reasons (bladder infection, severe migraine) in the dead of night (2:30 AM) and the hospital personnel sure know what they are doing. I especially admire the staff that is on the "graveyard" shift. That can't be easy- working those odd hours, like 11:30 PM to 7:30 AM.
Regarding jobs, I've been at mine for 14 years.
Hollow 01-04-2003, 10:09 PM Um i get $4 a week for washing clothes and cleaning the WHOLE damn house. In addtion to my allwance, i get $10 a week, i think thats pretty cool.

Mossopp 01-17-2003, 04:25 PM I work full-time for a chartered accounting firm.
Babes_Cat 01-17-2003, 05:33 PM I babysit.... does that count?
 I make more money babysitting than my mom does working in the schools. Thats sad.
Three'sCompanyrules 01-18-2003, 03:25 AM No I don't have a job yet,but I have a lot of offers. I will either get a job at the school to help the mentaly challenged students with worksites, Allmand Brothers,Abramson's Appliance, Hilsabeck's Sporting Goods or HARC,they all said they would hire me,now I have to figure out which one I would enjoy the best.
JoPol_wannabe 01-18-2003, 03:34 AM Yes I have a part-time job. I work at my town's nursing home in the kitchen as a Dietary Aid and I like my job mainly because it's not hard and I enjoy the people I work with allot. I work the evening shift (4-8) 3 days a week and I make the drinks, set the tables, serve the food, clean off the tables and sweep and wash the floors.
Three'sCompanyrules 01-18-2003, 04:41 AM I will probably apply to Allmand brothers on Monday and wait until a job opens at Hilsabeck's sporting goods. I know I can can get a job helping out with the school, but I can't take it until next summer. I like working with the mentaly challenged because it provides a new challenge each day and I did that job my sophmore and senior year of High School and they greatly appreciated my help,in fact one of my friends has down syndrome so I know how to work with them. My job of choice if I could pick one would be Hilsabeck's sporting goods, I worked there in a school to work program and I got a good review from them and one of the workers said you get paid for just watching Nebraska games, which is always a plus, although Allmand Brothers is the highest paying job,I also got a good review from them as well.
