They give warning about language and stuff like that before it airs. When they had that Booby Knight movie, I think it was rated MA and a L. The F word must have been said a 100 times. They give you clear warning about language and other stuff like that before it airs. But its really not a big deal actully.

well it is sports. coaches say all sorts of 4 letter words to their players all the time.

Some nasty words, Rainman have eben said on programs on both ESPN and ESPN2. Even on sports radio stations you know? On shows like PARDON THE INTERRUPTION and AROUND THE HORN say "damn", "frig" and "crap" every now and then.

i'M In the UK, but which american channel shows Last of The Summer Wine? According to IMDB they're still making the show, but in the US they must be still showing old eps. You said you want to meet the cast? The actor playing Compo is dead, lots of characters from the first 1973 eps, which are so old I don't even think they show them in the UK are also dead. And compo died in the show and his unknown son Tom comes to the funeral, and joins the show. I don't watch it much, but it's changed lots.

Welcome to the real world.

Some of the networks are becoming more lienient with regard to what they show to compete with premium cable channels. Many commercial networks are losing money to premium cable channels because of the editing and all of the commercials on network/standard cable....(Who shows more commercials than TBS/TNT? Nobody!)

Anyway, I remember when NBC showed "Schindler's List" They gave it a TV-MA rating and showed it almost completely, if not totally uncut. Speilberg came on and explained the reasons for why they did this, in addition to showing it commercial free.

I remember back in the mid 80's, our local channel 18 (independent than, now WB) got a new manager, and at that time, he decided to run an experiment and that was to show uncut R-rated movies at 1:30am on Friday nights. He described it as "an alternative for people that don't have cable." He added, by running the movies late at night, we are appealing to an audience that wants to see them."

A warning about the adult content was shown before the movie and at least 5 times during commercial breaks. Films such as "Private Lessons", "Tarzan The Ape Man", and "My Tutor" were shown. All involved the typical teen-fasination with the younger boy/older woman romance involving several nude scenes (Reason for the R rating.)

But the running of the filmes didn't last long, because everyone that was tuning in were the younger kids who weren't supposed to see the content without a parent's consent. After about the third week, and with angry responses from parents, local channel 18 stopped showing the uncut R-rated content and the manager of the station was fired about 3 months later.

Another time about a month after the R-rated Friday night filmes, channel 18 showed the Burt Renolds Dom Deluise movie, "The End" rated R for noted language especially in the final scene. The regular networks had shown an edited version of the film on NBC, and channel 18 must have assumed that they had recieved the censored version.

But they didn't! Those who turned in heard the F-word at 12:00 in the afternoon. (No one at the station had screened the movie before showing it) I'm sure somebody got in trouble because of this. Nowdays, all networks must edit/screen their films before they go out over the air.

I say, forget the teen soft-core sex garbage and run some good classic fimes in a late timeslot for people that don't have cable and show them commercial free. (i.e The Godfather, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Raging Bull, Blazing Saddles) I think that as long as you had the disclaimer about the R-rated content, people would watch. But you would have some good movie programs. I always believed that THIS is what channel 18 should have done 15 years ago if they wanted to show late night uncut R rated films. But, if you run the typical B-grade sexploitation garbage, you are just going to attract the audience (younger kids) that you say you want to keep away. I have no problem with questionable content, but it has to be done at an appropriate time and it has to be delt with in a responsible manner.

I went California Adventure once, and it kind of sucks(i've been to Disneyland too much, now its boring). I like Disney World better, except for the Animal Kingdom, because it sucks.

I think TV ratings are stupid. A rated "R" movie would only make a child want to see it more. Plus, them TV ratings only show up on the TV screen for 15, seconds; what good would that do?
