I guess there is now LITB Christmas episode. That's kind of weird, I wish there was one!! I'm guessing that picture in the message board here was just taken for the heck of it and not for an episode. Somewhere I heard ( it might have been here) that there was not xmas show because you need show around christmas and mayfield always his sunny and nice weather and that would be too unusual for a LITB to have snow I guess.

A Christmas episode would of ben great!. Too bad they never made one!

The closest they came to a Christmas ep was the one when Beaver had his haircut. He was an angel if you recall and at the end they are singing a Christmas carol, though I don't remember which one.

Holiday eps and season finales and cliffhangers are a relatively recent thing.

They never even had a change of seasons. Doesn't Mayfield ever get snow?:happyface

I don't know what it is with some of these towns. Mayberry on TAGS hardly got any rain. I remember one episode Andy walked into the courthouse wearing a rain slicker. Another episode had a few puddles of water on the streets. Two episodes had really bad thunderstorms. I think that's the only times I've ever seen any mention of rain in Mayberry. It lasted for 8 years and probably had some kind of bad weather (meaning rain or strong winds) for like 5 days out of those 8 years. lol

Remember we are not given a location of Mayfield, so maybe it doesn't.

But sometimes the time of year does enter into the story; usually it does not. Most of those where it does are near the beginning or the end of a particular year... such as, it being a new school year or near graudation time. But most of the eps seem to ignore seasons. "Wally, the Lifeguard," for example, was aired Oct. 22, 1960. Even if an inland lake was still open at that date, it's hard to imagine they would be hiring new lifeguards. "Beaver's Football Award" was aired Oct. 4, 1962, a date, especially back then, when football season was only into its 2nd or 3rd week.

I they had done a Christmas show, as many here wish, who knows-- they might have aired it around Easter :lol: .

There's a NLITB Christmas ep, complete with snow. But its kinda an odd ep, because it starts out in summer, pass through the fall, there's a Thanksgiving scene, then ends up with Christmas.

My guess is that they did do a Christmas episode, but they never aired it. You know, like I Love Lucy?:confused:

There was one episode of Litb I believe it was the one where Beaver and Richard were sitting on the bench discussing how their parents didnt like them where you could see their breath. You could tell it was definitely cold.

Isn't that the one where they are looking at license plates? I think it may have been Beaver's Laundry

There was another episode where this happened as well. I think Wally, Eddie, and Lumpy were outside, and you could see their breaths. I'm not sure what ep it is though.

Holiday episodes are NOT a recent thing. Think of all the shows from the 50s we still see in reruns -- all of them have well-known holiday episodes. The Honeymooners, Father Knows Best, Donna Reed, Ozzie and Harriet. (Come to think of it, did O&H have any episodes that were not Christmas-based?:crazy: )

Exceptions are LITB and I Love Lucy. Would seem to be a natural for Beaver.

First on the topic of there being no Christmas show, that may have been because of the possibility that it would be rerun out of season, either as a summer rerun or in the normal rerun cycle. That's the reason why Carl Reiner resisted making a Christmas show for The Dick Van Dyke Show in its third season (1963), since it would be useless to him as a summer rerun. That episode's writers correctly pointed out to him that it could be rerun during future seasons at Christmas time. That's eventually what happened, since the show was never rerun in the summer of 1964 (since there were 32 eps per season then, there wasn't time to rerun all the shows anyway), but it was rerun in December in both of the show's remaining seasons.
On another topic raised here, the episode where Beaver and Richard are looking at license plates was called "Nobody Loves Me", where Beaver feels unlovable since he's become an awkward teen. This episode, I think, also marked the last appearances of Miss Landers and Gus the Fireman, since Beaver goes back and visits them to remember when he was younger.

The only episode on LITB that may be considered a holiday-type would be Wally's birthday when Beaver spends his gift money on a bow and arrow (which Larry breaks on the way home) and buys Wally a paddle-ball. There may have been another birthday episode, but no Christmas, Easter or other holiday.

Yeah, there should've been a Christmas ep., that would've been neat!!! I think I saw a Christmas pic. on a LITB site, of The Cleaver family. But, no Christmas ep. :sad: Ah well, its still a swell show. :D
