When we were at Mikes sisters in Columbus, OH last week I saw in the local paper that
that Freddie Jr. was gonna be on the LATE LATE SHOW the next am 2 am which is
on CBS after DAVID LETTERMAN. So I watched it. They interrupted it for some
silly golf stuff but after that mess was over it was Freddie Jr. He reminds
me of his dad the way he told stories. They asked him about his new movie
Summer Catch & he said his ball team he likes is the NY YANKEES & his grandpa
used to take him to see them cuz he was from NYC. I assume that's Kathy's dad
since Freddie's dad died when Jr. was pretty young. He did tell a neat story
about this dad. It was hard to catch it all as I was so excited hearing it.

Here goes: Freddie was at some thing with Muhammad Ali not sure if it was a
TV show or guest appearance or what. He punched ALI in the nose either
joking around with him or by accident. ALI started bleeding in his nose so
Freddie went to get him a hanky or towel to stop the bleeding. He came back
with it. He didn't call ALI for 2 weeks cuz evidently he thought ALI was
really mad. ALI evidently wasn't mad at Freddie & called him after 2 weeks to
ask him why he hadn't called him back. Neat story.

Jr. had on a blue short sleeve button front shirt & off-white colored pants
& was dressed really nice. He still had the buzzed off hairdo tho. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/frown.gif It
was nice to see Sr mentioned on TV again. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

Sorry I wasn't able to alert ya'll to this but my laptop which is a 486 isn't
doing right & wouldn't let me write on websites on the trip.

Cheryl, that is a cool story--I read it somewhere before and it said that Jr. still has the towel. I think the article said he had it framed. The teaser for the article was kinda crude though, made you think the bloody towel was a reminder of his dad's death. Grrr!

Anyway, you weren't too far from me when you visited Columbus--sorry we missed each other!

You know it makes me happy when I hear that Fred Jr. has Freddie Sr.'s stuff (like his album) displayed in his house.

Freddie loved his son. Fred Jr. makes me so proud! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif (You would think I'm his mother) LOL.........

It is so nice to hear of Jr speaking about his Dad other than to say I never knew him.

Ironic that those are the words Chico says to Ed when he tells him my father ran away when i was very little so i never knew him

thanks for sharing
