Movie plot: A European mountain resort called Trollenberg is invaded by a fog and creatures lurking just off-camera. These creatures decapitate several people. Nothing much happens until towards the end of the movie, when the culprit turns out to be not one but several giant eyes with tentacles. With the fog and the creatures closing in on the resort, a plane drops several bombs on the eyes and everybody is saved. This movie stars Forrest Tucker, who is perhaps most famous for playing Sergeant O'Rourke in the 60s comedy "F Troop."
Review and comments: This is the first nationally televised episode for MST3K. It is good for a Season One episode but there have been far better episodes than this one. The host segments are fair but can't match the host segments of future episodes. It is sometimes hard to hear what Gypsy says because she makes clunking sounds when she talks. The movie is pretty bland because the eyes don't come until the third-to-last movie segment. It is about there that the riffing really picks up. There are plenty of eye jokes. There are also a number of riffs referring to "F Troop" aimed at Forrest Tucker.
2 1/2 (out of 4)
BTW, the episode is not the best quality but not the worst quality either (it was recorded around 1990) so I give it a B+.
