In The last 4 seasons of "I Love Lucy" the Black and White flim is so crisp and there are hardly any scratches, But in the the black & white seasons(even the color seasons) of "The Lucy Show" It is very scratchie? I mean both shows were shot at Desilu so shoudn't the film be crips like the 4 last seasons of "I Love Lucy"?
Also the "Andy Griffith Show" was filmed at Desilu and the flim was not scratchie either??

I don't know the answer, but I can venture a guess.

It's possible that I Love Lucy and TAGS are considered to be "classic" TV, so that attention has been given to them in the form of restoration of the film itself. The Lucy Show does not have the same importance, so restoration is not as urgent. The process of restoring film is both time-consuming and very expensive.

Hey, good answer. Never would have thought of that.

Sounds good to me, they sold it everywhere and it was worth a hundred million or more, so they made sure the masters were always in perfect condition, same as the American Film Institute does with great filoms like Citizen Kane!
