Bad news first: Looking at TV Land's schedule, I see that they jump from episode #118 (Uniform Day) all the way through episode #170, which is the very last Barney Miller episode, then they start with episode #1 in January. Bad because what happened to the 2.5 seasons they're jumping over, and annoying because they don't even show the three episodes that led up to the finale!
Good news: The show will go on through January and I'll be able to tape the first season episodes that I missed. Also good: Episode #21 of Fish (A Fish Christmas) will be shown on TV Land on Dec. 22 at 7:30 AM.

I see ramon ep #1 scheduled for jan. 2nd.
dont worry just yet, because tvland usually shows last episodes at the end of the year, then first eps of shows at the beginning of the year in special marathons.
It's very likely the show will pick up from where it was after that. Not 100%, but thats usually how they do it.

This probably isn't going to make me popular, but Fish is one of my least favorite characters, and what I saw of Chano didn't impress me, so starting from season one is bad news for me.
I think the show evolved and improved as the seasons rolled on, and the shows that are airing now are the best, backing up to the ones with Jack Soo of course.
The perfect cast to me is Barney, Wojo, Harris, Nick, Dietrich and Levitt. No female cops, just them.
I liked Fish enough, but he worked my last nerve after a while.
Just my humble opinion.

Everybody's entitled to their opinion.
I really liked them all, although the women were probably my least favorite. Seemed like they didnt try very hard in casting female roles, but they were ok.
In retrospect, it's probably just hard to see Alice out of that waitress uniform.

They are showing the last and first episodes for a last and first episode marathon on Dec 31 and Jan 1. Episode 119 will air late night on Jan 2 (early Jan 3).
