View Full Version : Shelley Winters
I don't know if shelly winters is still alive or not but I wonder how she liked working with Freddie. Did she ever give any interviews about that time?
I wonder if she was at Freddie's funeral.
catcopy18 07-14-2001, 09:47 AM Hi Joy:
I know Shelley Winters is still alive. She was born in 1922 so she'd be about 79 years old. I've checked out some of her web-sits but I've never found any mention of whether or not she went to Freddie's funeral. I bet she did go to Jack's funeral because she played in the Poseidon Adventure with him along with her part on CATM. I bet she did like Freddie tho - who wouldn't??!! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/eyes.gif
luvinjuan1980 07-19-2001, 09:03 PM I like her alot. She was great on Chico and The Man, Poseidon adventure, Alfie, and playing Nana Mary on Roseanne.
Did you know that her character's name on
Chico (Shirley Schrift)was her real name?

Epstein: Once I connect the dots, that's that.
Chico: Clean Clean Clean! ::jumping up and down::
Ed Brown: Ed Brown's Garage, home of the dirty mural.
Louie: Stick out your can, Here comes the Garbarge man!
luvinjuan,
That's cool! i'd never heard that before. Thanks for the info.
What is alfie who did Shelly play?
bella66 07-19-2001, 11:48 PM Wow! That's interesting,that being her real name. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif
Cheryl Harrell 07-20-2001, 07:22 AM I bet ALFIE is that movie from the 60's where Dionne Warwick did the theme song to it "What's It All About Alfie"...
I'd never heard of it before. I learn something new all the time on these boards.
luvinjuan1980 07-20-2001, 02:00 PM Yep! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif that was Alfie, Michael Caine was in the title role. He played a cad in this movie. I guess it's like a male bimbo. Anyway, Shelley Winters role was as an entertainer. It's been awhile since I saw this movie so i can't remember what she did as an entertainer. It was a good movie though. It came out in 1966, Freddie turned 12 that year.

luvinjuan1980 07-20-2001, 09:47 PM http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/lol.gif Alfie came out 3 years before I was born.

I remember Alfie, that was also the movie Paul McCartneys exgirlfriend Jane Asher was in.
Anna,
was that the girlfriend before Linda or since his wife Linda?
Cheryl Harrell 07-21-2001, 04:57 PM The one before Linda. I think she may have been the sister of one of Peter & Gordon. I forget which one...
Cheryl,
Here's a stupid question for you,who are Peter and Gordon? Are they singers too?
Cheryl, Peter is Janes brother.
Pitooey 07-21-2001, 08:24 PM Peter and Gordon was a duo who sang in the sixties. I forgot their hit song.
Cheryl Harrell 07-22-2001, 03:16 AM Thanks for the info! I knew one of them was her brother. Yep, Peter & Gordon were popular in the 60's & had out hits like I GO TO PIECES & I WANNA DIE etc & a remake of Buddy Hollys TRUE LOVE WAYS...
Jenny, Peter and Gordons only hit was A World without Love.
Cheryl Harrell 07-23-2001, 05:34 AM Oh wow, how did I forget about that one, & only remembered their other 2 hits... Old age LOL! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/wink.gif
Cheryl, what were the other 2 hits Peter and Gordon had??? I thought they only had 1.
chicosladyfair 07-24-2001, 12:55 AM OMG! This is the first time I have been in this thread. I missed a lot cuz I don't know who Peter and Gordon are, I have never heard of Jane Asher...and I have never even heard of Alfie...LOL! I need to get out more.
Cheryl Harrell 07-24-2001, 04:21 AM I GO TO PIECES (& I WANNA DIE) & a remake of Buddy Holly's TRUE LOVE WAYS... I thihnk WORLD WITHOUT LOVE was written by one of the Beatles... Just some 60's trivia. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif
You're not alone Chicosladyfair,
All these people and songs are lost on me. Isn't interesting how one topic can lead to something else and we can learn more about each other?
chicosladyfair 07-24-2001, 11:49 AM I know...I love it when that happens. I learn more stuff that I might be able to use someday and not appear so stupid. LOL. I love it when I look like I know what I'm talking about. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Thanks Cheryl I forgot about those songs. Jane Asher in my opinion was so pretty, she had the best hair,I always tried to get my hair like hers. I even dyed it red, but I looked like a fire engine.
Pitooey 07-24-2001, 06:19 PM I've forgotten - Was Jane Asher a model too?
Prince 07-24-2001, 08:17 PM Ok girls, here is the scoop. Jane Asher was a actress in the 60's. She was engaged to
Paul McCartney in the early 60's. They split and he eventually found the love of his life, who would be Linda. They ended up
being married for 30 years until she died. As
for Peter and Gordon, they were big in the 60's with help from Paul. Paul wrote "World
Without Love" and they had several more hits after that. Peter Asher of Peter and Gordon fame was Jane's brother. Never hurts to know a Beatle if you want a #1 hit. Anyway, the reason you ladies never heard of them is because you are all way too young. Hope this helps to clears things up. Only have ever idolized two men in my life, that would be
Paul and Freddie.
Don`t forget Macca, Jane Asher is a british actress which is another reason people here never heard of her. Now she`s kinda like our Martha Stewart, in England she has a show some what like Marthas, and a cake shop, she still acts but mostly on the stage, she cut back alot because of her 3 children.
chicosladyfair 07-25-2001, 03:02 PM She sounds just like Jane Seymour. I'll have to do some web-snooping and see if I can find a pic of her. My curiosity is running high. LOL
I already posted this but for some reason it didn`t post on the thread. The other reason people don`t know Jane Asher is because she`s a british actress, whose fame pretty much stayed there. Shes like our Martha Stewart now and has home making shows. she still acts but its on the stage instead of films . Jane cut back so she could be at home with her 3 children. If this is the second time you guys read this sorry.
sorry guys, Sometimes the tread is slow.
Pitooey 07-25-2001, 07:38 PM Macca - You came through for us. Thanks......
Cheryl Harrell 07-26-2001, 02:42 PM I hadn't heard of her in yrs until she was mentioned on here. Thanks for the info!
