View Full Version : Things you want to do before you die...
Brian Damage 12-17-2002, 03:26 PM What are some things that you want to do, go or experience before you get old and gray and die?
These are some of mine:
Visit Japan
Visit England
have my own radio show(I work in radio)
cliff dive
There's a couple of others, but they are inappropriate for the board;)
Mossopp 12-17-2002, 03:35 PM I just wanna fall in love with a nice girl who loves me back. We can get a nice wee house and have a few dogs and cats as pets. That'd be good for me.
It sounds cheesy but I reckon once I have that, everything else will be just fine.
Chocoholic 12-17-2002, 03:42 PM win the lottery (Yeah right, like that will happen!)
tour the United States
bring peace to the world (I think I'll have better luck with the lottery.)
visit Italy, Germany, France, England, Greece, and a few other places
either get over my fear of flying or build a tunnel to Europe so I can visit the afore-mentioned places
get married and have kids
I'm sure I'll think of more stuff later.

Vera-Ellen 12-19-2002, 01:24 AM Titania -- thanks! I've adored V-E since I was a baby. I grew up wanting to be her and Ginger Rogers (to be as versatile a dancer as V-E and as versatile an actress as Ginger Rogers would be a dream come true).
I used to be Dr. Lilith Sternin, but the user name wasn't working. So, I was in a White Christmas-y kind of mood and decided I'd make a name as tribute to the brilliant, underrated star of the 40's and 50's. :) Glad to see somebody here knew who she was. :) LOVE "On the Town"... I watched it only yesterday. I can do the little standing on my head leg exercise thingy... I used to do it when I was little because, well.. I wanted to be her. LOL. But, it's still fun to do. LOL. Have you seen "Belle of New York?" Lots of critics hated it but I LOVE the dancing and costumes! I mean, it's Fred and V-E... how can you possibly go wrong? I have most of her movies (she only made 12) and I never tire of watching her dance. (I won't even share with you how many Ginger movies I have... over 40 of her 72 movies... LOL... obsessed much?)
You're obviously a Gone With the Wind fan, so I thought I would add this little bit you may find interesting... I plan on having three daughters and naming them Vera Ellen, Virginia Katherine, and Vivien Leigh.

Vera-Ellen 12-20-2002, 02:20 AM I started dancing when I was 2 1/2. I took a few years off for health reasons.... I was spending 5/6 days a week at the studio... I had to give something. I'm a singing and an actress too, so... my time was best spent in the theatre for a few years. Anyhow, when I go off to school in February, I'll be dancing much more. I have to take a bunch of dance classes, but I love that. I've missed dance so much... it was ALL I knew growing up. I was a dancer first... and I'm still convinced I will be Vera-Ellen one day. LOL. (I'm going to play Judy and Ivy in the remakes of White Christmas and On the Town!)
I actually only played on naming a child Vivien Leigh to stick to the V-movie star trend. I'm constantly told I'm the northern version of Scarlett and that I was meant to be a southern belle, so she has significance to me in that sense, but other than that, I'm not a big Vivien fan. LOL. I'm all about Ginger and V-E whereas the classic film stars are concerned. Debbie Reynolds follows pretty closely behind. LOL
Nice to see some fellow classic movie buffs on here! :-D
LucyFan 12-20-2002, 03:47 AM I really don't want to do anything on this earth. I would rather die and be in Heaven than have to stay on this earth for a long period of time. Heaven is far more greater than earth.
1strunfan 12-20-2002, 11:28 AM "LucyFan" Don't you know about the great commission???
I actually have a great life. I'm married to my best friend, have two wonderful children, and have a large loving family, and lots of friends. So, If I died today, I wouldn't have any regrets. I guess what I want to do before I die is do something that makes a difference in people's lives. I'd like to think that when I die, my life meant something to someone other than my family. You know what I mean. I have people in my life who I really look up to who aren't family or really friends either, but that have influenced my life for the better and I'll never forget them because of that. I guess that's what I want to do. Maybe make people's lives a little better for having known me. (TALK ABOUT A DREAM!!!)
I'd also like to meet the cast of FOL and L&S.

yueah i know what you mean about LIVING at a studio. I dance and act (i attempt to sing but yeah- not one of my strong points) Ive also managed to screw up my ankle a few times and have broken all but one toe...but i love it too much to stop.
lol, my friends tell me the same thing about being in the wrong place and era! being a huge gwtw fan doesnt help as far as that goes! (ive been "northern belle" , "carabelle", scarlett and "freak-scarlett", "miz cahline" (caroline)....lol) Speaking of nicknames- me and one of my friends (she moved several yrs ago) watched white christmas and other old movies and had nicknames for them- she was betty and i was judy, lol.
ill ignore that "not a big vivien fan" thing ;) You're movie tastes are cool anyways!!! Im not a huge debbie reynolds fan so we're even :D
oo since your into old movies and drama- have you ever seen a production of "George M!"?

iliveforjayandnancy2 12-21-2002, 10:38 AM Here's my List of things I want to do before I die, and in this order lol:
* Renew my permit.
* Get my license.
* Get a used car.
* Finish my at home college course Child Day Care Management in under a year or two, and get my diploma.
* Go to college full time in 2003, meanwhile working part time, and I want to learn how to play Piano, and speak Portugese. I only took a year of them and need to learn them both better. LOL* While I'm doing that, I'll become roommates with a friend of mine.
All the while dating my sweety Jeff.
* After college I want to start my Own Day Care and build it from the ground up and hire everyone, including Jeff whcih I would find awesome if he chooses to work with me. He loves children, so it would be great. Also I need to have full control of the whole process like I've always wanted. Not to be the pushy boss type not at all, but to know that everything done,
is done through me and that I have to approve. These are children we're talking about. I don't want just anyone watching the most precious gift that God could ever give to anyone.
* After it's up and running and well on it's way to where I want it to be, then I want to start the rest of my life by:
* Getting Married HOPEFULLY to Jeff, God willing.
* Honeymooning in Hawaii.
* Moving in together.
* Having children. How many you ask? As many as possible. We'll probably have to get a bigger house too, for all the children I want to have! lol
Also, it will be great. Because my theory is no matter WHAT the circumstances are, no one should EVER put there children in Day Care. For ANY reason. If they do, it's the result of a bad chain reaction. This is what I mean. And I KNOW it will sound extremely insulting and wrong to some people and I don't want it to, but it's what I believe. So I apologize in advance, for my beliefs. But I believe putting your child in a Day Care means that you have met the wrong person. You need to meet someone who will work and support the family. Not like most marriages or relationships where they break up and the whole sharing custody thing, and one parent works and the other doesn't. Or like the people who both work and put there children in Day Care and go out and work 8 or 9 hour days, and who knows how good or bad the child is being treated. So, my theory is that you either find a job you can bring your children to, work out of your home, or find a guy who will work while the children are at home with the mom. In other words, the two MAIN reasons I want to own my own day care, is as I said so everything goes through me, but 1. I can watch the children properly, if the parents decide to be what I consider stupid and put them in day cares. and 2., is so that I can have my children with me AND work at the same time. I win on both accounts. So the way to keep them out of Day Cares, is by the man going out and working, and the woman staying home with the children until they're school age, and then once however many children you have are in school then if you like you can go back to work. But seeings how the woman gave birth to them, and carried them for 9 months, I think it is fitting for the woman to be home through the child's first five years, to deal with all there needs and to pay them full attention through the most important time of there lives. And so the mom doesn't miss any of the firsts. First words, first steps, or anything like that. Not that the man should miss out on that no not at all, but.... I know it sounds like horray for the woman the heck with the man, because that's not what I'm trying to say. He's the most important member of the family, for without him none of this could happen. So once the child(ren) are of school age, then the woman could go back to work and the man could either continue working or take a break and stay home. So, see this could be a 50/50 type thing. Ok that's my lifelong plans, not that anyone on this board could give a rats behind!!!!! lol Except to curse me out for my beliefs! lol Which is all good. We all have our different beliefs, and we should be allowed to feel them. So feel free to give me your input. Thanks.
Angela
BTW you'll notice not one time did I use the word Kid. I hate it. A kid is something a kangaroo has, not a parent! lol They are children. Not kids. They deserve respect, just because they are young and innocent doesn't mean they don't. To me kid is degrading, just like saying look at that old man over there. That is degrading. You would say See that elderly man standing over there? Or when they say black man, why can't they say colored. Because they're NOT BLACK! lol Or when they call spanish people green horns. I HATE THAT! They are hispanic, or Spanish. I don't even like calling them Puerto Ricans even if they are from Puerto Rico because that too sounds degrading to me.
Woo hoo I SHUT UP! YAY! LOL

Not that the man should miss out on thatno not at all, but.... Thanks.

Life's not easy
Yeah, Fo Sheezy
But it all flows
When your livin' in da ghetto
Every corner always covered with ho's
They need the money cuz they dirt po'
Carry my 45 just to stay alive
Just another wigga tryin' to survive
Rolling the streets in my Escalade
I always manage to get caught in a drug trade
But that's life
Yeah, the ghetto life
CHORUS
Bling bling around my neck
Yeah, it's a ghetto life, a ghetto life
Got playa hata's always tryin' to hate
It's a ghetto life, a ghetto life
But its all good cuz my homies got my back
A ghetto, ghetto life
Child support don't come for us
And there ain't no ***** you can really trust
Every time I try to take out my trash
Got bloods tryin' to pop a cap in my ass
These streets are a scary place
Thats why my momma always got a can of mace
But that's life
Yeah, the ghetto life
CHORUS
A drive by shootin' killed my homie Tyrone
All the *****'s scattered so he died alone
You know I still pray for him every night and day
But livin' in da ghetto, that's the price you pay
I wanna live to see the age of 23
But round these parts, that's a rarity
But that's life, my life
Yeah, It's a ghetto life
CHORUS 2x
Ghetto life, it's a ghetto life (repeat till fade)
