You might find that it's an interesting subject. Three pages isn't much if you narrow it down to only one aspect of the civil war. You can't cover much of it in that short amount of writing so I suggest that you read something about it and then settle on which part you'd like to write about. Here is an excerpt from "Storm Over the Land" by Carl Sandburg: --From mid-April of '61 to mid-April '65 some 3,000,000 men North and South had seen war service--the young, the strong, the physically fit carrying the heavy load and taking the agony. The fallen of them had seen Antietam, Murfreesboro, Fredricksburg, Chancelorsville, the Willderness, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor, each a shambles, a human slaughterhouse. In the burnt and blackened Shenandoah Valley were enough embers of barns and men to satisfy any prophet of doom.-- All of those names are battlefields. You could learn about just one of those, for example, and write your report on that. Or just check around and see what grabs your interest. fr00ti 12-15-2002, 04:57 PM Originally posted by kittflynn Research? You might find that it's an interesting subject. Chocoholic 12-15-2002, 05:26 PM You know what sucks worse than essays? 20-page term papers! :barf: Lil g 05 12-15-2002, 05:45 PM yah wingsfan, I havent gotten to the point where ive had to do a 20 page one, but I am getting up there, but I would choose the Civil War any day over imperialism in India (a stupid term paper i had to do) Titania 12-15-2002, 07:32 PM i had to write one about the secession and events prior to the civil war over this weekend. ugh- we get an essay every other week in history and one a week in english. and i have an 18 page junior research paper due in january Montclave 12-15-2002, 07:40 PM Being from Pa - check out the net on Gettysburg. There are also alot of ghost stories regarding Gettysburg. Juss Like Jo Po 12-15-2002, 08:31 PM Yea thats wut my hist teach gives us..essay tests...i hate them and my pen always goes dead :( DarleneIllyria 12-15-2002, 09:31 PM Originally posted by jimmiegirl48 Has anyone here ever had essay tests? They suck soooooooo bad. I like essay tests compared to all the other tests out there. With True/False tests, I get screwed over just about every time because if I select true it'll be false. I hated multiple choice tests. I hated the plain question tests where you only had the question and you didn't have a choice to pick from. Essays were the only tests that I didn't mind taking if the subject was okay. If the subject was boring, I'd just have to do what I could. Good luck on the essay. dawsongirl 12-15-2002, 09:40 PM Originally posted by WingsFan You know what sucks worse than essays? 20-page term papers! :barf: Or three 5 pagers due the dame damn day. Try looking up info on Google if you haven't already...it's like the best search engine. ~LadyJess~ 12-15-2002, 09:46 PM I just finished my 7 page midterm for English. We have essay tests in that class all the time but I don't really mind them since my teacher is really hard when he grades our writing but he is easier on the impromtu essays and I find writing essays really easy, what I want to say just comes out on paper a lot easier than if I was trying to say it.
