Someone else has probably said the same thing, but I'm not searching through all those messages; Chico and the man went downhill once Freddie Prinze died. They should have just ended the show, and not gone on another season with that little kid.

He was a cute kid & I still liked the shwo but it wasn't the same without Freddie Prinze. They soiuld'veat least explained his deather better but they never did... http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/frown.gif

I couldn't agree more. Money was probably the main driving force to keep the show going. I believe Gabriel Melgar got a rotten break being cast in the role to try and replace Chico. He was a good actor, but no one could ever replace Freddie! Gabriel's acting career fizzled after that... http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/frown.gif

I agree 100%. They should have never continued the show after Freddie's death. His loss was too much for the show to overcome.
FREDDIE FOREVER!
I agree gals, without Freddie the show was never the same.
The chemistry between Jack and Freddie is what made the show, along with Freddie's great looks and Charisma. Without Freddie I think Jack was lost and they should have ended it with Ed talks to God,or whichever the last Freddie episode was.

I agree wholeheartedly that it was the chemistry between Ed and Chico that made the show what it was. Isn't it funny how even with the big time stars like Jack Albertson, Scatman Crothers, Della Reese, and Charo the show couldn't keep its popularity without Chico. A very talented young man named Freddie Prinze who was virtually unknown until a few years earlier made that show the success that it was!!! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/loveya.gif
