5:30PM Archie Bunker's Place

This is a good sign, maybe they will air all 97, I'll update you guys as soon as I know! For the rest of the UPDATED TVL January schedule, check the General Sitcoms board.

Awesome! I hope they show all 97 eps. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Hopefully we will see them all now. It wouldn't make sense to leave it on the schedule and show the same 26 episodes over and over. (Maybe we'll even see A Small Mafia Favor!)

I *hope* they decide to air all 97 episodes this time, I'm still waiting to see them all yet, I'm interested to see the rest of the series, since I've seen the first 26, I'm expecting TV Land to *atleast* air more episodes than from what we have seen from them so far.

For them to add this to Twice as Nice, they don't necessarily have to have all 98 episodes. I hope they do, but Dennis the Menace only had around 38 episodes aired and that was in Twice as Nice for a month or two.

But I do think for them to actually have this in Twice as Nice they probably have all 98 episodes. I personally think ABP should be part of the AITF package sold to the networks. I mean, it's just a continuation, but with a different name and cast. That way, it's all together.

I agree that ABP is a continuation of AITF. CBS did not promote ABP as a "new" series in 1979. TV Guide did not call ABP a new series, the opening episode was the "tenth season" with a new title for "All in the Family". Only since the show(s) have ended has it been broken down separately for syndication. It probably should stay seperate though, since there are many who love AITF and don't like ABP and AITF by itself has 207 episodes, more than enough for syndication. But hopefully TVL will show all 97 now (I have never seen the unused Gloria pilot since it never aired on CBS). This will please Archie fans or those who love to hate him no matter who he is surrounded by.

I am so very glad that TV-Land is keeping Archie Bunker's Place
and moving it to 4:00 pm and 4:30 pm central time I hope that TV-Land airs all 97 episodes of Archie Bunker's Place.

Merry Christmas

I totally agree with your post jon123. BTW, I do have the Gloria pilot on video and did see it on WGN years back when I was a kid. I liked it better than the new format they came up with for Sally Struthers.

Yes, I don't understand what the execs at CBS were thinking when they replaced the Gloria production team with (gasp) the team from WKRP and (double gasp) who went on Growing Pains.
You can't blame Carroll for not wanting to appear on Gloria, yet the absence of crossovers in this case led to end of both Gloria and ABP.

Thanks for keeping us updated. This might be it guys, we might see every episode. I know I shouldn't say that just in case they don't show every episode. I can't wait. I swear if they show every episode, I'll cut down on my complaining about TVL.

If you notice, A Small Mafia Favor #24 is not airing again. And after #27, the Xmas episode #34 airs...
So we shall see if they air all or not...

I have a feeling they won't, which is such a shame. Oh well. I probably sound bitter about this, but why would they bring it back and air the same episodes over and over again? TV Land makes absolutely no sense sometimes, LOL.

Thanks Pav!

They are airing exactly the same episodes that already have been aired. Apparently, TV Land only has rights to these episodes. If so, why even bother keeping it on the schedule?

Well on Jan 11 they are airing Custody Part 1, which never aired in the rotation, it will be airing in the Merry-thon this weekend though. It will be interesting to see what Jan 13 and on will look like for ABP episodes.

I'm still not saying either way. TVL has been doing airing this rotations episodes in a mixed manner. They might be showing the ones that they have and then go back to the ones they skipped on. Maybe 'A Small Mafia Favor' will be like an episode of My Favorite Martian. I remember when I was recording MFM they skipped this one particular episode in the last season and after they had went through the rotation a couple of times, they finally showed it. It might be like that and you never know. I've still got my fingers crossed over here.

I wish I had your optimism Jenny. Believe me, I hope you're right, but I just have a feeling we will be stuck with the same episodes over and over. We'll see tho.

Everything seems the same, from what TV Land already has aired, other than that I'm anxious to see the rest of the rest of the schedule. Hopefully when they decide to air it this time, maybe luckily they will determine whether or not they will air the complete series.

I've been tossing it over in my mind and it still seems weird that if they plan on showing the same 27 or 28 eps over and over again, why make them into a double take? That seems a bit odd to me. Also, how many days are they gonna run? I think Pav. said 5 days a week. It'll take them what about 2 or 3 weeks to finish up on those 27 or 28 eps. People would get sick of it if they kept on airing the same thing in that one evening time slot.

Then again TVL does some silly stuff so I wouldn't be surprised if they did show it over and over again.

Well after Custody Part II on Jan 13, 5:30pm is Archie's New Partner Part 1 again. So they just added Custody 2-parter in the rotation. Well if they are airing it in Twice As Nice, I'm sure they are trying to get more episodes in, but for now in January they will only show the first 27 (no sign of #24 though) and episodes 34-35. Hopefully in February they add more or all the episodes, since they just renewed the Screen Gems deal.

Well, I'm definitely holding out hope that they are able to get more eps. I agree though, if they can air it in Twice as Nice, they probably will be airing more episodes. I mean, what would be the point of airing the exact same episodes over and over again. I won't get my hopes up, but we'll see. At least they're airing the show, even if it's still the same episodes.

If they are renewing the episodes, they must want air more than they wanted the first time around, or possibly even a chance to air all of the episodes, because if they are trying two fit two episodes in 'Twice as Nice', they must want to eventually have the oppurtunity to air most of the episodes.

By February, I'm hoping they will air more episodes, but if they don't I will be looking forward to some of the episodes that haven't aired in the rotation to air in some of their specials.

Yeah, that's the exact same reason why I thought they might show every episode. I mean if they were gonna show the same 27 eps over and over again they could've kept it at midnight. They could've put any show on TVL in that block, yet they chose Archie Bunker's Place.

One point of note is that the final episode that TVL aired on 12/31 had the new "Sony Pictures Television" logo as the end, while the episodes that are running in the regular 5-6pm period still have the old "Columbia Tristar" logo, meaning they must've acquired something more than was in the original package.

jon123
01-02-2003, 11:22 PM
Columbia is owned by Sony, so I don't think that makes a difference. I think all programs that now have the Columbia/Tristar logo will switch to the Sony Pictures logo eventually.

It should be an interesting run. I hope more episodes are used. Anyway, more people are probably seeing these current episodes for the first time since the time has been bumped up to 5:30

That is DEFINITELY good news. I hope they are able to get the rest of the episodes, but this will definitely be better than nothing.

Maybe I will finally have a change to watch "Growing Up is Hard to Do parts 1 and 2" for the first time since I saw them in 1981 on CBS when I was only 6 and remember little about them. As some of you may know UPN 57 (WPSG Philadelphia) did not have righs to" Thanksgiving Reunion" or "Growing Up is Hard to Do" when they aired ABP between THe fall of 1998 and the Summer of 2000.

This is great news. I hope they don't stop at #68, episode 69 is the one with Don Rickles and Johnny Brown. This means we will now see more of Billie and Mrs. Canby. I hope we also see Gloria's third season visit and the original Gloria pilot.

The Donna Reed Show will be airing 38 episodes in their rotation this time, Father Knows Best will also reach #38 episodes without episode #3 and #46 and #47 will be a included in the rotation also.

Anyways, this is some of the best news, I've heard in a long time. I had my doubts, I'm excited that TV Land will be airing more episodes, but I still can't believe it will be actually happening, LOL.

Why is TV Land always skipping over "A Small Mafia Favor"? I have never seen this episode. Is it violent? Does have adult themes in it that TV Land doesn't like. What's the story here.
