..."Leave it to Beaver" is definitely funnier and more watchable! I'm realizing how many of the things the adults said that were either over my head or just funny on the surface when I was a kid. Ward and June REALLY had Eddie's number didn't they?

I forgot, until I caught it on TV Land one Sunday morning, how UNfunny "Father Knows Best" was. It was downright dreary! :sleep2:

I saw like 8 FKB's, and I almost went to sleep! So I guess Leave It To Beaver.:)

Comedy- wise, Leave it to Beaver .
Father knows best isn't funny and that's why I watch sitcoms! Wally and Eddie are hilarious!

I haven't watched enough of FKB to make a good judgment on it. I can say the couple of episodes I have watched weren't that spectacular. As far as LITB, I can't handle more than two seconds of it at a time. So I would say there're both bad but I would say LITB is worse. At least FKB didn't drive me out of my mind. There's only 2 shows that have come from the 50's that are truly great: I Love Lucy and The Honeymooners.

Leave it to Beaver is a very entertaining show, it's a bit dated but highly rewatchable!

I agree. I consider these to be the best from the 1950's.

Another thing in "Leave It To Beaver"s advantage over "Father Knows Best" is the simple fact that the Cleavers were a bit more beliveable a family than the Andersons...particularly where the children were concerned. Beaver (and sometimes Wally) screwed up more or less on a regular basis...the Anderson kids, never, or, if they did, they were forgiven in a heartbeat.

But if you want to know which sitcom family from the fifties I felt was the MOST realistic, it would have to be the Gillises from "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis"...Dobie was at odds with his father, his older brother, and his (sometimes) girlfriend Thalia Menenger...and you could really identify with Dobie and Maynard, something you couldn't do with Princess, Bud and Kitten (but you COULD with Wally, Beaver, Lumpy, Whitey and especially that no-good creep Eddie Haskell!!);)

Beaver hands down. I can laugh with beav and the crew but FKB was too serious for my tastes.

Way to go. BTW I'm watching the FLKINSTONES 9the "Dino-as-Sgt.Bilko" episode) and it's known how THAT show went from very funny tro very kid=-friendly (much like Woody Woodpecker and Looney TUnes)..

How about THE BRADY BUNCH, whcih went from being VERY wholeosme and sweeet to being VERY GROOVY!

(DONAN REED and MY THREE SONS of course defined middle class "blandness",though very well written and shows I highly respect--then there is OZZIE AND HARRIET which is sort of a ,mixed bag..)
