I know TV Land edits about three or more minutes from their shows to make room for ads. Does Hallmark or Goodlife edit a lot out of their shows, too? I also heard that Fox Family/ABC Family edits a lot from their shows, too.

Well, all networks basically edit the same amount out of their shows, at least I think. Do you mean length or just HOW they edit? A typical Mama's Family episode on TBS runs for 21 minutes. Same with Hogan's Heroes on Hallmark. So, it's hard to tell. I think all the networks edit pretty equally, IMO.

It depends on the type of episode, if the episode uses foul language or actions and whether it's considered a controversial episode, I think there is a better chance for a network to edit. They want to make it suitable for all ages, so they have to edit some parts and even make enough room for commercials, so there is a great deal of editing during portions of the show and towards what kind of synopsis the show has.

But each network has their own way at identifying whether the should edit or not, or the amount of commercials they estimate to run during the show.

On FOX, I feel like I'm watching commercials that are briefly interrupted by a few minutes of The Simpsons.

One example I am personally familiar with involved the airing of "The Wonder Years." When it was being broadcast on TNN a couple of years ago, it had very little cut out. But when ABCFamily took over they absolutely cut more out. I know this for a fact because I have some of the same episodes taped from both networks.

Come to think of it, ABC Family does cut an awful lot out. And they do it so badly, IMO, lol.

Speaking of ABC Family, they cut out a whole song in the Christmas special, 'Twas the night before Christmas. If anyone here remebers when it used to air on network tv, they may have noticed. You can tell the edit looks terrible.

Don't they also not show the original end credits of their shows? If they don't, then they are ten times worse than TV Land.

Nope, they don't. They do exactly what Lifetime does and makes their own credits.
