I hope nobody minds me saying this. I love Gone with the Wind, but they screwed up big time with that Scarlett movie. The Scarlett book sucked too, but I like the movie and book to GWTW.

I don't know why they allowed it to be made either. I've tried judging the Scarlett movie and book by a different standard. It just doesn't work that way. I didn't even make it all the way through the Scarlett book. I think I reached midway before I just turned it back into the library. The actors in Scarlett were awful imo. I know nobody can beat Clark, Viv, and the others but the new actors just didn't even come close.

Some things just shouldn't be messed with, and GWTW was one of them. I have to admit we do have exceptions. I love the Anne of Green Gables movies. Well, I like the first two that they did. They did a third movie around 1999 and I don't know what the hell they did to it. If you like the Anne movies, and you were disappointed in the third flick- you'll def. know what I'm saying.

I didnt like the sequal Scarlett either. Alexandra had big guts to write it. Course I think she should have written it right the first time, and not made something silly out of it. The woman who played Scarlett was AWEFUL. UGH shes so not Vivien Leigh!! No one but her could play Scarlett. I wont allow it LOL. I wont be surprised if they have the movie The Wind Done Gone out, but I have a feeling people will um.. be quite furious. I have talked to a few people about the book and said they found it aweful, and kind of like it was an insult. I dont want to read the book though so... who has read it?

I havent read the wind done gone....Alice Randall is evil....She made a lady in the audeince cry when she asked a question at the MM house....sounds like she is looney...How can writing TWDG make up for what was done to "her" people.....ugh i hate that woman. I know there is going to be a new VL bio published next year and a MM movie made in the next few years....I hope one day I can write a book on VL or gwtw.....now just a topic to cover lol.

ugh..that book...well it just talked about how the main character is one of the mulatto children (gerald would never have done that! argh) and was always overshadowed even though she was so much better than her half sister and how she became rhetts (R's) mistress..ugh. it was evil. Needless to say, when wind of this tale drifted southward, it fanned some smoldering legal embers.

The estate of Margaret Mitchell galloped into court, charging Randall with copyright infringement. Last month a federal judge in Atlanta agreed and issued an injunction against publication. The case is now in appeals court.

I feel a strong artistic connection to Alice Randall because she clearly shares the same curiosity that I experience while trekking across the landscape of literature. It's a vast territory of ideas, adventures, and personalities. The only boundaries are the limits of human imagination. Anyone who reads a novel or short story is carried into this world, and some of us wonder about unexplored settings, alternative plot twists, and supplemental characters.

Is it possible Scarlett O'Hara had mixed-race siblings? What other family secrets were lurking behind closed doors at Tara? While I have only mused about such questions looming throughout the pages of previously published material, Alice Randall set to work resolving some of them.

Unfortunately, when a writer embarks on such a journey, it can be hard to know where all of the intellectual property lines are drawn.

Anxiety about potential lawsuits (and a lazy work ethic) held me back when a window of creative opportunity opened in 1993. That year marked the 50th anniversary of Hollywood's classic film "Casablanca." It was the perfect time for someone to tell us what happened to Rick Blaine after he put Ilsa Lund and Victor Laszlo on that last plane to Lisbon.

I suspect he would have returned to this country after the war. His restless spirit might have led him west, perhaps on a motorcycle, trying to rediscover the America he left behind. It's intriguing to consider how he would have reacted to rock 'n' roll, the rise of TV, McCarthyism, and Vietnam.

Another compelling idea I failed to develop involved an old gimmick: Choose a historic person and talk about him from a dog's viewpoint. My working title was "Collared by Conspiracy: The Watergate Diaries of King Timahoe." You can imagine how President Nixon's loyal canine companion would have figuratively chewed up the likes of John Dean, Charles Colson, and G. Gordon Liddy.

Bestsellers that never got on paper. That's my personal storyline, so I admire writers who can move to the next level. My advice for Alice Randall is: You go, girlfriend! Don't give up. They took the wind out of your sails, but be patient. As we all know (and I hope no one takes me to court for saying this): Tomorrow is another day.

Ugh, ok people Im gonna do it. Im gonna go out and buy this GWTW movie! LOl. I never had a desire to watch it, and I highly doubt Ill like it (based on length and drama--I like comedies), but Im gonna do it anyways..its one of my goals! LOl. Im not a "movie" person (which is why I never post here) Im a TV person all the way. Isnt this movie like 34247343243242 hours long? Or is it only 3? I remember my friend made me watch Titanic and I thought I was going to scorch my eyeballs! So..is this movie longer or shorter? LOl. I see all these quotes and pics and, well guys.. you made me wanna see it! So when I buy it and watch it, Ill let you know if I like it or not!!

YAY!!!! WATCH IT!! come to the gwtw island! lol!!! (only you cant be the ladyship- or lordship or princess- all other titles are available!)

You might be surprised, there are some comedic moments (or at least I think there are!! lol, but im a freak..and definitly a movie person.)

im pretty sure its longer than titanic....but its not at all slow. I got bored during titanic too.. ;) and i was the only person in that movie theater not crying- i wanted leo to die!

i cant think of one slow moment....well, maybe im a LITTLE biased, but i LOVE every part. The story moves around enough and changes as the war goes on and ends etc etc and there is sooo much happening that its hard to be bored...

welll ill stop talking before i tell you the whole plot!!!!!! all ill say is- clark is SOOO hot, scarlett rocks, and chris killed India's dog!!!! (well maybe that third thing doesnt matter in the plot...but he did!) And this whole thread will make a LOT more sense if you watch the movie!!!!

lets see if i can sum up all these "love triangles"....

scarlett can have any guy in the county- except the one she wants- ashley- because hes marrying his cousin melanie (yeah, lots of inbreeding...)- ashley seriously leads her on (ok its debatable, but he DOES) so a lot of the movie is devoted to her chasing after him while hes married and off at war and shes living with melanies family. She also has a habit of marrying men she isnt in love with just to get money, status, whatever she wants. So Rhett (hes so hot...) is in love with her but she cant get over ashley to see that shes really in love with him...yeah...its kind of weird to describe. but you can see that theres a LOT jammed into that almost 4 hours. it could easily be a 6 or 7 hour movie and id still love it.

Yeah, Vivien is the best actress.....and Clark, well, lets just say hes MINE. lol

that doesnt bother me as much as the earlier hospital scenes...i guess cause the cinematography is soooo cool there that im distracted. but the scene with the surgery- even just the shadows freak me out sooo much.

we better stop before we scare crystal away..

well i ride horses, and the girl wasnt wearing any protective gear for her head . Course being in that time period they didnt have any. So when you land a certain way without a helmet on you can easily have your head bounce and your neck can crack/break. Its really quite easy to do. :)

Gone with the Wind was an awesome movie. When I was younger I wouldnt give it a chance now I watch it everytime it comes on and I own the DVD. It and The Wizard of Oz are timeless classics.
