His comedy was far superior to most of the comics that are out there today. He was funny, but he also showed that he was an intelligent human being at the same time. Things seem very different now, with comedians getting laughs by behaving like idiots. Adam Sandler and Rob Schnider are good examples of this. What would he think of "entertainers" like them?

I've always thought he would like Eddie Murphy--Freddie's act was "edgy" like that, too. As far as all those comics who act like blithering idiots with no "real" material to get a laugh; I don't think Freddie would have been too impressed by them.
..then again, maybe he woulda laughed his butt off at them, like my husband does. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I think he would've thought he was better than any of them & wouldn't have liked them. LOL!

I think the only reson Freddie wold like them would be because they would have been good for material for his own routine.
I think Freddie could have had a lot of laughs about them

I think Freddie would`ve looked at them and shook his head. Then showed them what real comedy is.

I still think Freddie Prinze would be sitting right where Jay Leno is today!

I think that Freddie would have been around for the new comics. I think he would have been a mentor-figure for most of them, therefore, their material would have been much, much different. One of the reasons that these new comics are such blithering idiots is because they don't have the "Prinze" influence. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

In the vein of this thread I thought I'd share some comments I found in interviews with a couple of present day comedians in reference to Freddie....

Carlos Oscar is known for his charming, witty, and energetic stage persona. He fully acts out his jokes by telling stories and metamorphosing into various characters and voices. Carlos jokes most often about the humorous side of his family, society, and everyday mishaps. His comedy appeals to the mass audience.

As a Puerto Rican born in New York City, but raised in Los Angeles, Carlos now considers himself a proud "MexiRican." Carlos tributes the late Freddie Prinze as being the greatest comic influence in his life. "As an 11-year-old kid watching Chico and the Man, I looked up to him. He made me realize that you could be both funny and clean and still make people laugh."

Excerpt from interview with comedian George Lopez

As for his visibility as a Latino in the media, Lopez remembers that there were no real role models when he was growing up. That is one of the reasons he has turned down roles where he would have had to play a gang member or a criminal. “Other than Freddie Prinze, there really wasn’t anyone to look up to,” he reflects. “There was nothing to dream, nothing tangible. But I always dreamed of becoming a force in my hometown, and whether radio, TV or movies, whatever, I’ll take it.”

I agree with you Anna! + I think Freddie would've liked John Leguizamo and Eddie Murphy. I think these 2 comics would've made him laugh. As far as Jay Leno is concerned "He is a great Comic in his own right" He was fantastic back then! Leno and Prinze were great comics!!! I love Leno and I am a big Fan of his too!!!! You go LENO!!! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif + He was a good friend to Freddie! I remember............
