Her voice has become as
distinguished as Fran Fine's on
"The Nanny," but "Will &
Grace" star Megan Mullally says
there's a crucial difference: her
shrieks are gentle on the vocal
cords.

That's critical because the
44-year old actress is namely a
singer who needs to protect her
voice. Together with her band
Supreme Music Program, she's
released their latest album "Big
as a Berry" -- an ecclectic mix of
country, blues and rock.

Mullally, who plays the tamed ex-socialite Karen Walker on the NBC sitcom tells the
AP, "Singing isn't an attempt to branch out, but who I really am."

The actress/singer, who never took lessons to train her voice, says she began singing
songs she heard on the radio and on her parents' albums.

"As an only child, I had a desperate need for self-expression," says Mullally.
