For all the CATM officianados, did you know there is a second verse to the opening song?
Once Freddie and Sammy Davis, Jr. were both guests on the Mike Douglas Show. Sammy sang the theme song. We all know and love the first verse. Here is the second verse. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif
Chico, he don't trust you.
He thinks you're trying to bust up all his dreams.
Chico, he don't know now,
That you have all your own crazy plans and schemes.
There's good in everyone
And a new day has begun...
(and it continues on with the rest we all know.)

Awhile back my hubby found us the CATM theme song on a 45 single (Little record with big hole in it) at an antique shop & bought it. That was when I into watching the CATM re-runs but just before I started to get into Freddie... It does have that verse & if I remember right was on the radio version. On the tv shows they shorten the theme songs. That's why not many folks hard it. Side 2 of the record is the closing theme...

I saw the episode on my tapes again last week in which Jose Feliciano plays Chico's cousin Pepe. It just tears me up when he sings the theme song to stop Ed and Chico from arguing. Freddie looks like he will cry at any moment, but tries really hard to smile and ends up looking so sweet and vulnerable. I imagine the tears really would have started if Jose had sung the second verse! Then at the end of the episode, Chico and Ed are at the workbench and Freddie is singing a humorous version of the song in his funny Hispanic accent--"Chico, don't be discouraged, the Man he's gonna give you a raise." So cute!

Thanks Cheryl, I figured that Jose Feliciano would have it on his recording. I am trying to find it on C.D.
MariposalLKB, I agree, that scene when Ed and Chico and arguing then, Jose sings to them almost made me cry. Chico looks truly sweet and vulnerable.

I found two different versions of the original song on Napster awhile back. I posted all the words on my web site at www.prinze-sr.cityslide.com (http://www.prinze-sr.cityslide.com)
