I think tj is getting WAY too strict about ppl getting banned. brandon aka bouchard got banned cuz he said kelly osbourne had a double chin and i said she didnt, its not like it was a fist fight, neither of us were even pissed. Weve all done worse **** then that so why aint all of us banned.

I think that these are TJ's boards and he should be free to run them as he pleases. I think he is a lot more fair than some moderators that I have known. I used to post at a site where the moderator let the posters who were his close friends get away with anything and everyone else got reprimanded or banned for the slightest offense.

Yeah, TJ doesnt do favorites. Im glad he makes it fair for everyone. We all knew how the boards were run when we read the agreement. Although, I just scrolled right down lol.

I was also banned several times but the difference is that I've cleaned up my act.Brandon however hasn't.

Yes, I agree, I'd hate to see it get so bad where TJ would get fed up and close down SO permantly.

Why is everyone complaining? If you want things to be like they are, make your own board and do it there. I don't see you paying for the boards. TJ has the right to do what he pleases, and he does it fairly.

That doesn't happen to all people who get banned . . . I think it only happens to the people with the standard 'Member' things over their name. Not sure though.

Just so everybody knows, even if you change your accounts, e-mail addresses, etc. and post under another name, you are not going to fool anyone. Your IP addresses will still be the same. You would be better off just being on your best behavior.

I agree. I was just gonna start hanging out at the other boards and stop coming to CC all together. The threads that I thought were interesting usually ended up in fight and somebody would close the thread, so no point in even replying to some of the threads that I know will end up in a fight.

Okay here's what I think:

Usually fights are amusing and fun to participate in...if they have a legitimate point. At first the Avril thing was amusing, but then it got annoying after 56489 topics. Just like the latest fights. I agree with whoever said that interesting topics were ruined by stupid, pointless fights about people's facial fat. It was getting stupid, annoying, and immature. I think Dana should come back though. She didn't start the fights...well....I dunno, maybe...

I think that it is probable that MOST people on the boards appreciate TJ. I know that I appreciate him enormously. I think that it is probable that MOST people on the board have been staying out of this and other similar threads because the whole complaint herein is, forgive me, quite childish.

In the real world, if someone is rude, vulgar, or threatening, they often pay a more severe punishment than being banned, which could be likened to being sent to one's room. In the real world a student could be expelled, an employee could be fired. In the real world the offender might offend someone with a knife or a gun... Oops! It was just a joke! Except the "j/k" part of it would be too late: the offender would be lying in a pool of blood.

I'll never quite understand fully why some people feel that the anonymity of the internet gives them the freedom to be nasty and threatening. There is nothing admirable or brave about the action. It is ugly and cowardly. Plain and simple.

This is the one and only time I'm going to respond to this thread because it is getting a little long...

I've been sitting here reading everyone's posts and trying to figure out the right thing to say until I came across Mysty Eyes's post. It was right on the money as far as what I wanted to say.

What some people don't realize is that you might get carried away on the internet acting all macho and bitchy thinking it's cool but what happens if that rubs off on you out in the real world? What happens if you get so used to calling people names, opposing others opinions, and just acting childish and obnoxious that you do it at the wrong time? The person isn't going to send you to your room or ban you from where you are... in the world today most will pull a knife on you or a gun even. And like she said you can't just say, "Oh, is that a knife I see? In that case I was just playing."

I really don't know what good cussing does when having an argument or even if it just spits out in normal conversations. To me it just shows ignorance and it's depressing to see all those foul words splattered all over the place. I've grown up in a house that it's not uncommon to hear GD or other foul words and let me tell you it's so depressing for me to hear all that and it puts such a negative attitude in me.

You people who say, "Well if you don't like it, don't look at it. Go to some other board." I just want to know what the point of cussing is anyway? It doesn't accomplish a thing. And why should those of us who don't want to hear/see cuss words have to go to another board just so you all can use all the profanity you want in such a casual way. BTW, how old are all of you?

I'm really a lurker for the most part around here but that got to be kinda annoying seeing people saying if you don't like to see the cussing go to another board. Teenagers testing the limits is as old as dirt. No one can blame you all for doing that but you do need to be aware of when the line has been drawn. For example if you're in someones home and it's a "no smoking" home you don't smoke. TJ asked you all to lighten up on the swearing once before and some of you made a mockery of his request by going on a swearing binge. Someone once posted a stupid rant about me, and in it he included the fact that I'm older than in my twenties. He was playing on your typical teenage cliqueyness I guess. I think I remember that thread. This whole site is for everybody and I really don't care how old a person is. If you are 50 that's cool. If you are 11 that's cool too. Doesn't matter how old a person is. If you are nice that's all that really matters.

I got the same response from someone last summer concerning my age (40--I don't FEEL 40!!:confused: ). They said I shouldn't bother being on the Facts of Life site because of my age...:rolleyes: When Lisa Whelchel happens to be around that same age (by the end of next May)...So I wanted to ask them why
an actress around my age can be talked about and idolized, but a fan of MY age CAN'T??? I told these people--HEY!!!! You guys may watch the Facts of Life on cable--BUT IIIIIII SAW IT BEING FILMED 15 YEARS AGO!!!!! As well as meeting Lisa in person...

He was brownosing the younger members in an attempt to diss me. A couple of the members, as I told y'all earlier, fell for it, but overall, just as you see in this thread, most didn't.

I must say, I've met some older people at another message board site that I used to go to and they were always dissing me for my opinions. I've also met a lot of teenagers who I origionally mistook for older people. Age doesn't always equal maturity.

I always thought the purpose of this board was for the friendly exchange of ideas about the shows we watch and love. It seems most of the people here regardless of age agree with that but there are always a few immature posters regardless of age who want to diss people that don't share their opinions. BTW I'm 48 and I watched most of these shows in there first runs starting with LITB. Does anybody remember a show from the fifties called Sky King about a rancher who few his own plane.

If you are compurter literate and can work a keyboard with sweaing every 5 seconds along respecting other opinions, post away! Whoever made that post about not bother to post seemed like a smart alec to me.

I'm 28 at least for a few more days. Anyway, I didn't realize that there was such a big thing about age on here. I thought it was just a place to come have conversations with people about sitcoms. I didn't realize that age was an issue. How sad. Are there not enough prejudices out there without making age one?

well, i'm finally back...(thanx TJ, i'll do better this time around). i'd also like to thank Sarah for this thread...how kind! -- anyways, i DO know that i acted ridiculously stupid as 'Notorious'. and when i saw that i was banned, i knew that it would have to stop... so, i created a new name ('Bouchard') and made sure i wouldn't fight. and, i didn't! the whole kelly osbourne thing was no fight. but, thanx to a certain some1 (i'm now believing it was 'The Fonz') for telling TJ i was starting fights again, my IP# was banned! and, i didn't even fight under the name 'Bouchard'...I don't believe i should've been banned under that name. i mean, sarah even agrees that it WASN'T a fight.... oh well, it's in the past. i'm back now, and don't expect any fights from me, either. adios! or should i say 'hi', now that i'm back...:wave:

OK, about the age thing. We are ALL being extremely hypoctritical. Something about how teenagers swear every 5 seconds? I'm 15 and I dont swear every 5 seconds. I think that it's immature. I do agree with you (whoever posted this :) ) that it's rude and dumb to discriminate against an age group, but dont discriminate against teenagers because you've run across a couple of bad ones. :)
