Note the subject says COULD....

According to various sources on the internet, WCBS in New York, who currently carries the syndicated "Who Wants to be a Millioniare" starring Meredith Vieira is rumored to be replacing the show with "The People's Court" next season. New York is the largest market in the United States and could be problematic for the show seeing a second season.

While WCBS may be dropping the show, the ratings have been climbing since the show began in September, now sitting at average 3.4, so there is still a fairly good chance that the show will be renewed next season, especially if another station picks up "Millionaire" or WCBS finds another timeslot for it.

I used to love "Millionaire" when Regis was on. I was upset that he left and they cut the show to 30 minutes instead of an hour and a new host. I wouldn't be surprised if it disappears altogether. I don't watch it at all anymore.:(

Millionaire was a legendary fad. It was great for about a year, then, it just got old! It should have been cancelled a long time ago!

Millionaire could still be big today, but ABC got greedy. They assumed since they had a hit they could show it every day and everybody would still tune it to watch it. Not true. Once you've seen one show, you've seen them all. People got bored with it and that's what killed the fad.

I have no idea why the primetime version was cancelled. The syndicated one seems to do good in ratings as you may know. But I fit fine in that one.

Those celebrity episodes were a big reason why the show was cancelled. I've heard many people say they quit watching when so many celebrity special were on where the celebs "cheated" their way up the ladder.

Yeah, that's the reason I would give for Weakest Link (Anne's Version) too. Geez, it seems like every week was a celebrity show on WL.
