Do any of you have a parent that has a Purple heart?

Not my parents, but I have 2 uncles who received the Purple Heart. One lived through the war, the other didn't. My Uncle Melvin died shortly after D-Day. He was a paratrooper and jumped in on D-Day. He helped Rudder's Ranger's take the hill on D-Day. A few days later he was out doing something and was killed. Don't know exactly what happened, I'm in the process of getting his records from the military. I have a copy of the certificate his mother was presented along with the Purple Heart. I also have the telegrams and letters from the War Department informing her that he had been killed 2 days prior to her husband (my great-grandfather)

Yes, my dad has a Purple Heart.

He served in WWII from 1942 to 1945. He was in the Pacific in the Philippines on the island of Leyte and was injured (shot in the leg). He is now 80 years old. He was to have been one of many infantrymen to invade Japan in Nov. 1945 had the Japanese not surrendered.

My mom's uncle does. He was a POW in WWII

Sure, no problem.

My father was awarded the Purple Heart as a result of wounds he received in the "Battle of the Bulge" during World War II.

My father recieved the award for injuries he suffered in Vietnam.
