I enjoyed the performance of the first Alan Willis in the episode Jenny's Low. He was great in the scenes with Jenny and especially George. Alan and George were playing the dozens and when I saw that scene I could not stop laughing. But i always wondered why the first Alan Willis was gone. I thought maybe he didn't want to do the role anymore. But he was a classic guest star on the Jeffersons.

I don't know Solomon. It seems like he had a couple of problems with his speech or his acting. I'm not putting him down, I was just wondering. What make stand out to youa as the better Alan anyway?

I guess because he had a unique appearance and a unique voice. The sound of his voice was funny and the way he would walk. Basically, his overall appearance and voice stood out to me. One of his quotes toward george that is truly funny to me-"You call that respect, you to earn it, so cover your nose before I burn it."LOL-the body language of Alan when he said that quote was also funny-

Yes there were more than one episode with the second Alan. One episode is when he moved in with the Jeffersons because he had a fight with his father. It was another episode when George was trying to get a permit for the HeLp Center from City Hall. Those are the only two episodes I remember with the second Alan.
