On a very slow night, with only NBC's struggling 8-9pm and FOX airings original episodes, 8 Simple Rules won it's timeslot and was number one overall for the night:

On ABC, Tuesday 8-9 p.m. remains a force to reckon with repeats of the pilots of 8 Simple Rules (#1: 9.0/14) and According to Jim (#1: 8.0/12) up 21 percent, on average, over CBS's second place JAG R (7.0/10). Wednesday bound That '70s Show on Fox scored a typical 7.0/10 followed by WB bound Grounded for Life at a 5.7/ 8. Struggling NBC had Just Shoot Me at 8 p.m. with a #4 5.7/8 and In-Laws #3 6.5/10.

Overnight Overall, Top 8:
1. 8 Simple Rules (ABC) 9.0/14
2. Frasier (NBC) 8.7/12
3. According to Jim (ABC) 8.0/12
4. Dateline (NBC) 8.0/12
5. In-Laws 9:30 (NBC) 7.7/11
6. NYPD Blue (ABC) 7.4/12
7. Judging Amy (CBS) 7.1/11
8. JAG (CBS) 7.0/10
ABC won the overnights with a 7.4/11, NBC was second with a 7.39/11, CBS 7.0/11, FOX 7.0/11, WB 4.2/6, and UPN 2.1/6

Fast Nationals Overall, Top 8:
1. Dateline (NBC) 7.7/13
2. Frasier (NBC) 7.4/12
3. 8 Simple Rules (ABC) 7.2/12
4. NYPD Blue (ABC) 6.9/12
5. Judging Amy (CBS) 6.7/11
6. In-Laws 9:30PM (NBC) 6.6/10
7. 24 (FOX) 6.5/10
8. According to Jim (ABC) 6.4/10
In the fast nationals, NBC won with a 6.7, followed by ABC with a 6.4/10, then CBS 6.4/10, and FOX 6.0/9

Fast Nationals Viewers 18-49, Top 8:
1. 24 (FOX) 5.2
2. That '70s Show (FOX) 4.9
3. Dateline (NBC) 4.6
4. Frasier (NBC) 4.4
5. According to Jim (ABC) 4.3
6. Grounded for Life (FOX) 4.2
7. 8 Simple Rules (ABC) 4.1
8. NYPD Blue (ABC) 3.7
FOX won the demo with a 4.9, ABC a 3.9, NBC a 3.9 and CBS with a a 1.8.

I know people are going to ask, why 8 Simple Rules was a 9.0 in the overnights and a 7.2 in the fast nationals. Because Nielsen Ratings suck, that's why, Overnights are better because they include all the networks, while fast nationals just include the top four and do a metered market ratings for WB and UPN.
So when the households ratings are in next week, 8SR will be very high in that, and lower in Nielsen's most likely. It did great for a rerun that's for sure.

Cool! For a rerun it did REALLY well! I love that episode!

The thing was that it was all reruns on both CBS and ABC. JAG reruns don't do very well, and Just Shoot Me never makes it to the top 2, so it was obvious that 8SR would get a good rating...even though it's not the greatest rating. Depends on what the 18-49 is..

“8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter” (8:00-8:30 p.m.)
Taking first place in its half-hour, “8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter” stood as Tuesday night’s most-watched comedy with Total Viewers (10.9 million). The family sitcom took second among Adults 18-49 (4.1/12), behind only an original episode of Fox’s “That ‘70s Show.” In addition, “8 Simple Rules” led its time period with Women 18-49 (5.3/14) and Women 25-54 (5.9/14).

The re-airing of the pilot's Nielsen and 2+ ratings coming soon for the week of Dec 2 - Dec 8.

Thanks for posting the ratings report PB, that's amazing, I'm glad it made #1, that is definately surprising news, usually the most watched shows are normally in the lead it's good to read that 8 Simple Rules are pulling in strong ratings and I hope they continue to do so in the future.
