Is there any evidence indicating what state "The Simpsons" is set in?

It has never been revealed...at least not yet. It's sort of a spoof of how the location of Hooterville was never revealed on Green Acres and Petticoat Junction but clues were put in some episodes.

Springfield isn't supposed to be in a state. It's supposed to be Anytown, USA.

In the episode where they did "BEHIND THE LAUGHTER", they said. If anybody knows, tell us. I forgot. At least, it may not be true, but the did say something like..."that modern ________family..."

I DO vaguely recall an episode in which someone said something
like, "Go to the state that Springfield is in.", so I figure that it must
be in SOME state.

I always assumed that Springfield was a suburb of Hollywood, considering the proximity of all those movie stars...

In the "Behind The Laughter" episode, the narrarator says the Simpsons are a "Northern Kentucky" family, but some rebroadcasts of this episode also say they're a "Southern Missouri" family, so frankly, I don't think we'll EVER know which state this Springfield is located...

If you look at a Kentucky map it is kinda weird. There is a Shelbyville in the north part of the state between Louisville and Lexington just off I-64. Also, there is a Simpsonville 10 miles west of Shelbyville. And to top it of, there is a Springfield 40 miles south of Shelbyville. It's pretty crazy, check it out. PEACE
