Did anybody notice that in "My Blonde-Haired Brunette" Sally referred to a guy named Woodrow Glimshire as being attachted to his mother, and then went on to talk about a guy named Herman that Woodrow's mother fixed her up with?? Did anyone else find this extremely odd? :confused:

I noticed that! I wonder just where they merged Woodrow and Herman together? Didnt they take notes? LOL. Maybe they wanted to bring Herman Glimshire out, later on, but couldnt remember spec's...all they could remember was "Herman", "Glimshire" and "mother" and we ended up with the Sally-love-interest we came to know LOL But, yeah, I noticed. And it was funny. I sat here this morning and said to myself, "What?!...*Thats* weird!!". LOL

Yea I have heard that before.

Maybe Sally did not know it at the time but Herman was actually Woodrow's little brother. Rob also stated his brother was married in an episode this past week.

Maybe I just give the show more room.

We as fans also look at the show in chronological history as in episode 1 thru 160 etc.

But if you look at it a different way as Rob Petrie's recollections and that the episodes are not in the order they are made.

Example : Maybe some of the last season's episodes happened before some of the 1st season's episodes in Robs memories.

In other words I have decided personally to think outside the box with the DVD show.

I saw that episode, but had never noticed that before. I was lying in bed watching TV, and had to sit up! Glimshire? Woodrow? Herman? Mother? What the heck is going on?
I suppose it takes a lot of time and effort to put together a great group of actors, creative staff, and technical staff to make a hit show like TDVDS. I heard a writer say once that "good writing is rewriting." That appears to have been the case with this show as well.
Just as an aside (please indulge me), this is one of those episodes where Laura's feeling unexplainably insecure. I just think it's awesome that she doesn't know how desirable she is!

I also noticed once in the office, to Rob and Buddy, Sally made an offhand remark about Herman being an "octopus", I can't recall the episode but she was trying to convince the guys not to worry about her having a date for her birthday? So that ep might have been before we actually saw Herman Glimsher, who was clearly a milquetoast kind of guy-- not an octopus by any means!

I've heard that too. And, BTW, the guy that plays Herman Glimpshire plays on an episode of "Leave it to Beaver." It's the one where Wally is taking Beaver to visit the Patons at their farm and Herman tells Beaver the wrong bus to get on.

I forget specifically which episode, but it was mentioned that Herman was Woodrow's younger bother, though we never actuallly saw Woodrow. By the way, Bill Idleson, who played Herman, was involved in the TV industry for quite a while. Years later, he wrote several Odd Couple episodes.

Bill Idelson also wrote for The Twilight Zone at least once, one of the six videotaped eps w/ Billy Mumy playing a boy who talks w/ his grandmother after her death on his toy telephone. He also wrote the first Happy Days Christmas ep, where Fonzie ends up joining the Cunninghams for Christmas. This was before Fonzie lived above their garage, so he lived in his own tiny apt then. Since Jerry Paris directed every Happy Days ep, the writing and directing credits for that ep looked like a few DVD eps. that Idelson wrote.
