Does anyone know why ABC cancelled the jetsons after one year? Was it cause of ratings? You know it was one of the few cartoons to return in later years. It returned years later I think from 1985-1987 in syndication..

Yes, I belive it was ratings that caused "The Jetsons" to be cancelled. Indeed, until the advent of "The Simpsons" in 1990, most of the prime-time animated series that followed "The Flintstones" premiere in 1960 only lasted a season or two ("Top Cat", one season; "Calvin and the Colonel" one season; "Jonny Quest", one season; "Where's Huddles?", one season; "Wait 'Til Your Father Gets Home", two seasons;"Family Dog", three, maybe four episodes). Then again, in the case of "The Jetsons", it might've been too much of the same thing that was going on in "The Flintstones".
Just a guess.

I never really liked the Jetsons, a lot of people just say Hanna Barbera were trying to copy the basic format of The Flintstones.

I watch the Jetsons if nothing else is on, but I prefer the Flintstones any day of the week. The Flintstones had more likeable characters. The Jetsons characters kind of got on my nerves.
