In Gunilla Hutton's only year with the show, she missed aproximately a quarter of the episodes. I read somewhere that she was sick. Anyone know?

I guess nobody knows the answer.

Gunilla had a bout with hepatitis during that time. That's the reason Meredith took over for Season Four up until the end. Gunilla of course did survive and went on to star in Hee Haw for several years. She has also appeared with Linda Henning and Lori Saunders at numerous celebrity conventions. I've met all three and they're absolute dolls.
