Andrew Lincoln had a legendary run playing Rick Grimes on "The Walking Dead" for nine seasons. And while he made a cameo in the series finale, and later led the spinoff "The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live", he initially left fans heartbroken when he announced his decision to leave the show in 2018.

At that year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Lincoln confirmed the news after a little nudge from comic creator Robert Kirkman. As for why, he chalked it up to the strain on his family. “I have two young children, and I live in a different country, and they become less portable as they get older,” he admitted to Entertainment Weekly. “It was that simple. It was time for me to come home.”
